Qatar Airways posts operating profit of more than QR3bn in 2016
Qatar Airways has bucked the trend of airlines incurring losses around the world by posting a ‘strong’ financial performance in the 2016 fiscal year.
The airlines registered an impressive operating profit of more than QR3bn, which is also the best-ever for the Qatar-based airlines.
The carrier thus celebrated a successful year of continued growth, thanks to strategic networks, fleet and partnership expansions.
At a time when airlines around the world are downsizing, Qatar Airways inaugurated 14 new destinations across its network. It also welcomed 19 new aircrafts to its fleet, taking the count to 192.
Qatar Airways also made a number of strategic investments in other airlines and airline groups.
The airline company seems to be poised for even more growth in 2017, with 14 new destinations already announced.
