One of world’s most advanced security systems coming to HIA soon
Qatar’s Airport Security Department will soon implement new security measures, including installation of a sophisticated set of scanning machines that will be a world-first, at the Hamad International Airport (HIA).
Once implemented, HIA passengers can complete all their travel procedures through an electronic system, without any human element involved, reported The Peninsula.
The HIA, which was this week chosen as one of only six five-star airports around the world, is implementing an ambitious new Smart Passenger Project.
The project will allow passengers to move through scanning machines, complete travel procedures, weigh and register the luggage and take boarding pass and use e-gate to board the flight.
Scanning machines and CCTV cameras will be set up at the airport’s entrances and exits and connected to the central control room. The number of mobile and foot patrol officers are being increased to effect quick responses.
“Several new machines are being installed inside the Airport to ensure safety and security as well as fast track the movement of the passengers by reducing queues of passengers getting inside the airport,” said Brigadier Essa Arar Al Rumaihi, Director of Airport Security Department.
These machines are quite advanced and are being used anywhere in the world for the first time. It will scan passengers and bags more efficiently than ever before.
More number of people can pass through the scanning area than before, thus smoothening out long queues.
Do you think these measures will make movement through the HIA smoother? What are your thoughts?
