New procedure to renew vehicle registration for companies from next month
The procedure one needs to follow in order to renew registration (Istimara) of vehicles for companies and institutions will undergo a change starting next month.
Beginning October 1, companies and institutions will be able to renew their vehicle registration only online, via Metrash2 app or the MoIQatar E-Services Portal.
The General Directorate of Traffic announced that people will no longer be able to do it at traffic counters at the Fahes centres, reported The Peninsula.
First Lieutenant Turki Shadid Al Kaabi, who works at the Licensing Affairs Department of the General Directorate of Traffic, said the measures would include stopping all forms of paper transactions while registering and renewing vehicle licences belonging to different companies and institutions.
“We’re now in the process of ending all paper transactions and start doing it electronically,” he was quoted as saying by Qatar Tribune.
“If a company has applied for a licence or vehicle registration, and it meets all conditions, it can complete the procedures electronically without the need to go to any of the traffic sections. All procedures can be done through Matrash2,” he said.
The vehicles will need to clear inspection at the Fahes centre and also pay insurance before being able to be registered online.
There is an online link between Fahes and all insurance companies operating in Qatar, in cooperation with Qatar Central Bank using Traffic department data.
