The Philippine School Doha (PSD) has been working day in and day out to welcome over 4,000 students to its new campus once the next academic year begins in June.

The new school building, which sits right next to the Pak Shama School in Mesaimeer, is nearing completion and is expected to meet its deadline, reported Qatar Tribune.

PSD Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman Gerardo Macasa Jr, other members of the board and Principal Dr Alex Acosta, visited the construction site and evaluated progress on Saturday.

“We’re committed to completing the project as per schedule and moving to the new campus on time for the school year 2017-18. While we’ve 3,000 students at present, the numbers can be taken up to 4,000, including those on the waiting list, once the new facility opens,” Macasa was quoted as saying to Qatar Tribune.

The new facility sits in a 14,375-square metre plot allotted by the Qatari government. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new school was held in January, 2012.

Besides ample number of classrooms, the new campus will feature a gymnasium, library, laboratories and sports facilities including a swimming pool.

PSD has been operating out of a rented building in Madinat Khalifa for the last eight years. PSD started operations in 1992 and will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year.
