Two more private companies will soon start operating taxis under the Karwa brand, The Peninsula reported.

This will take the total number of cabs in Qatar to an expected 4,000 by the end of this year.

Mowasalat signed contracts with two companies to launch 500 taxis each by the year-end.

The new operators join Al Million and Al Ijarah, two private companies that operate about 650 taxis each.

The two companies are Ibin Ajayan, a local transport company, and Profit Group, a company with interests in other GCC countries.

Mowasalat said the new franchisees will operate using latest technology for auto dispatch and a monitoring system under the unified call centre that is being set up for taxis.

"This, we hope, will greatly benefit customers and taxi operators to mobilise to busy locations and meet customers’ needs. The Karwa taxi management office is taking stringent measures to intensify quality control,” said the company.

Profit Group is preparing to launch 300 taxis by the end of May and will add another 200 by July.

Ibin Ajayan Group will start with 300 taxis in August and add another 200 taxis in three months.

Any guesses what the new colours will be?

In life people will love you for what you have achived some will hate you becouse you cant meet there needs,or will hate you becouse of varius things some are right some are wrong.one thing you people need to understand is that in karwa taxi, there is al jarah,al milloin and mowasalat.this companies are deffrent.so when you point a finger be sure on which taxi are you pointing on.im a taxi driver from kenya ive been here for few months.so when you say you are being charged more ask the man where is he from coz kenyans We aint desparate to charge you more .and if he says kenya and the meter is off he knows your trip is free.and deffinetly 100% it will be free unles you want to apreciate him for the free ride

Karwa should focus more on developing their public bus system. Increasing the number of taxi cabs is not a solution here. As more taxi cabs plying the streets of Doha will only worsen the traffic.

Hi Qatar Living Management, can you tell me how you define good and bad people? by skin color/outlook/by behaviour or you have done some different kind of tests with those small, flat, cocktail bloody, white skinned good people?

Taxi Services needs to improve here. Especially those drivers who cheat their passengers. I hope the management could retify such behaviour from their staff. This will significantly, improve the image of Karwa and its usage. I am sure most of us have been cheated by these Karwa drivers or got into an argument once or twice in Doha. (Also agree with QLM, that Filipino Karwa drivers are are honest, based on experience).

READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY EVERY TAXI:

1- 0 is for outside Doha which charges more and 1 is for inside Doha, if you were inside doha and the tariff was on 0 you should only pay for the km and for that KM x 1.2 = the amount you should pay him, if he is not happy with it call the company first if they didnt reply call police and do not let the driver move.

2- Never sit in the front because its not a good position for argument

3- if the meter is OFF your ride is 100% FREE, even if the money is nothing for you DONT PAY because they will keep on cheating on other people which may not be wealthy as you.

4. Respect other people, if you see someone trying to take a taxi but the driver is refusing dont take the taxi specially if its woman (mostly happens between rich looking people vs poor looking people)

5. Karwa taxis are the worst + they are very dirty dont take them

6. even if you are the richest person on earth dont pay him more than what he deserves specially if its Indian/african because they get greedy very fast but the Filipinos are mostly good people (not being racist just sharing my experience)

7. use your own maps and tell him the directions

8. if you want EVERY taxi to take you tell him your destination is Airport and then in the middle of the way tell him your actual destination

9. ask for the Bill every time
