The month of June sees a 22.3% drop in traffic violations
In a welcome sign, traffic violations are seeing a declining trend in Qatar, Qatar Tribune reported.
A total of 111,600 traffic violations were recorded in the country in June, a decline of 22.3% over the previous month, according to latest figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS). About 142,215 traffic violations were registered in May.
The number of traffic violations in June saw a 12.6% decline over the same month last year. The biggest drop was seen in traffic instruction violations, which fell 58% in June as against May.
Compared with the previous month, there was a decline in all types of traffic violations such as radar, jumping red signal, traffic sign violations, non-renewal of registrations and driving licences in June.
The 30th edition of the Qatar Monthly Statistics also revealed that the number of road accidents declined by 17.3% to 449, when compared with 543 in May.
Road accident deaths, however, rose from 13 in May to 19 in June this year.
The measures taken by the government to minimise traffic violations and accidents have shown positive results.
According to statistics, a total of 6,868 new vehicles were registered in June this year, a 30.9% decline as against the same month last year (9,933).
The biggest decline was seen in private transport category vehicles where new registrations dropped 32.7% in June compared with the same month last year.
The number of driving licences issued in June also dropped 7.3% to 7,242 from 7,809 in the same month last year.

That means 22.3% of peoples got fired and left Qatar.
That's no surprise if 22.3% are out of the country on holiday. Wait until they come back!
