Ministry to hold auction of seized cars for a week starting today

The Ministry of Interior will be holding a week-long auction of seized cars of all types and machinery in the Industrial Area starting today, The Peninsula reports.

The auction of a large number of vehicles and machinery will be held at the government's grounds on Street Number 52 where the vehicles are kept.

On weekdays, the auction will be held from 8am until 11am and from 3.30pm until 7pm. The auction time on Friday will be in the evening.

The cars and machinery that will go under the hammer were seized for traffic violations as their owners did not turn up to claim them after paying fines. The minimum bidding price to participate in the auction has been fixed at QR5,000.

When a deal is decided, the bidder must pay at least 20 percent of the price. The remaining value of the car or machinery can be paid the next day.

If one doesn't pay the next day, authorities have the right to re-auction the vehicle or machinery. When one has paid the full amount, the buyer must take possession of the vehicle or machinery within 24 hours.

We will update this post with some pictures from the auction. Come back to this post later.

For me, buying a used motor vehicle from a trader, you enter into a legally binding contract. You are entitled to expect that the vehicle is of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. An older vehicle with high mileage may not be as good as a newer vehicle with low mileage, but it should still be fit for use on the road and in a condition that reflects its age and price. Hi Friends,

Yes, I Had been there. There were a lot of vehicles there for auction.

Its good if you can get some car around 8,000-10,000Qar less than the market place.

But People are bidding like crazy. Saw some cars are taken for same price available in the market, some even more than the market price.

Just keep in mind, these cars were there not driver for 1-2yrs. Have to see the following expenses, just to get the car out from the yard.

1) Isthimara (Valid for 1-Month )+ New registration plate --- 400

2) Insurance ---- 450-750

3) Battery ---- 300-500

4) 4-Tire(Even though how good they look-have to change)--- 1000-1800

5) Recovery pickup to garage ---- 200

6) No Key available ----250

7) Water service ----50

8) Oil Service Filter, Engine cleaning etc -----500

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Total ---- 3100 to 4300.Qar

+(Any Damages to be fixed in garage)

After all these you have to take for technical inspection & fix the problems in 1 month time to get the normal Isthimara (registration).

So think the price before you bid. If you can get running vehicle in market in similar price.
