If WhatsApp went offline for you yesterday night, then you were not alone!
If you are one of those people who does not use social media messaging service WhatsApp, then you are likely someone living under the proverbial rock.
With more than a billion users around the world using it daily to text and communicate, any outage, however little they may be, can send people into a frenzy.
That is exactly what happened yesterday night, on New Year's Eve, when the app went offline for millions of users.
There was widespread outrage as New Year’s revellers tried unsuccessfully to make plans and wish their friends a prosperous 2018, reported Eoto Tech.
Users across Qatar and in other countries including Barbados, India, Panama, South Africa, Spain, and the UK said they were unable to connect to the app, according to One India.
In the UK the website claimed users were unable to send messages since 6.42pm, but the service returned just before 8pm, reported Daily Mail.
WhatsApp apologised for the disruption, with a spokesman saying ‘WhatsApp users around the world experienced a brief outage today that has now been resolved. We apologise for the inconvenience.’
