HIA to start charging for parking

Hamad International Airport (HIA) yesterday announced changes to its short- and long-term car parking fees.
Under the new fee structure applicable from June 22, the long-term car park will be available for free for passengers and visitors.
However, they will be charged for short-term car park.
Parking for the first 30 minutes will be free while QR5 will be charged for the first hour, HIA said in a statement.
Visitors will be charged QR5 for every consecutive hour and QR35 for lost tickets.
All passengers and visitors using short-term car park will receive a ticket upon entry which must be retained for departure.
“As part of the phased opening of Doha’s new aviation hub, we are updating and adding further services for passengers and visitors.
“As parking demand increases, we are opening up our long-term car park as an extended parking solution to avoid congestion and ensure a seamless and convenient experience for our passengers and visitors.
“We thank our guests for continued support and look forward to welcoming travellers into our world-class gateway to the world very soon,” said Abdulaziz Al Mass, Senior Public Relations and Communications Manager, HIA.
All payments will have to be processed at the parking payment machines on the bridge connecting the Passenger Terminal Complex and the short-term car park prior to reaching the car.
Visitors who park in the short- term car park before the fees are implemented will not be penalised and will be able to leave free of charge.
Visitors looking to use the long-term car park are advised to leave enough time for the four- minute transfer to the Passenger Terminal Complex.
Buses are provided for visitors’ convenience every 15 minutes.
