Qatar’s health care system has consistently been rated among the world’s best.
Over the years, the country has intensified its focus on expanding medical facilities and services while also fostering a culture of research across various specializations in a bid to provide the best possible medical care to its citizens and residents.
Under the same ambition, Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has been working on several significant projects to improve healthcare services in the country, in accordance with the best international standards.
This was highlighted by Her Excellency the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari during a visit to the National Health Laboratory project in Mesaimeer.
Laboratory and research services have remained one of the top priorities for the healthcare system, HE the Minister emphasized, saying that these services contribute to enhancing the health of the society as well as the individual.
This new laboratory incorporates the most advanced technology pertaining to medical tests and will support public health services across the country.
The services of the project include assuring the safety of local and important food products in line with the safety guidelines and standards they must adhere to.
The laboratory will also be used to carry out analysis of drugs and other medical products for efficacy and safety.
However, healthcare services in connection to fighting epidemics and communicable diseases of various kinds will be prioritized at the lab. It will also be an important analytical tool for specialized research.
The ministry is running the project in conjunction with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).
The lab’s design has received a Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) sustainability certificate due to its conservation of electric power and water inside and outside the building.
The project's design was also in line with the highest international safety standards for alarms and combatting fires.
