
Free medical tests for mosque visitors

Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) is offering free medical tests for visitors to mosques across the country during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
It is also conducting public lectures on Ramadan-related health topics, with guidelines about nutrition, sun exposure and healthy practices, among others.
This year’s medical programme will cost QR100,000.
With the beginning of the holy month, QRC has launched a project to distribute Iftar meals to 2,800 people daily at a cost of QR8,773,500.
A total of 84,000 people are expected to benefit from the initiative, which is part of 12 social projects being launched by QRC during Ramadan at a cost of QR8,773,500.
Some projects will complete during Ramadan while others will extend until the end of the year. Together, they will serve about 111,000 people.
Costing QR2,925,000, Ramadan-specific projects include provisions for 320 families at a cost of QR320,000, Zakat Al Fitr for 900 families at a cost of QR495,000, and Eid clothing for 550 families at a cost of QR660,000.
As for post-Ramadan activities, their overall value is estimated at QR5,848,500.
They include food and financial assistance for 400 poor families at a cost of QR3,000,000, and Patient Support Fund, which covers treatment costs for 100 poor patients and medical equipment for 50 others at a cost of QR 2,500,000.
Those interested to donate to the fund may send SMS with “?” or “R” to 92769.
Child-oriented programmes include school vouchers at a cost of QR200,000 for 1,400 poor students, the ‘Top’ programme for sponsoring 45 outstanding students at a cost of QR55,000, the ‘Recite and Ascend’ Quran memorisation programme for 50 students at a cost of QR55,000, and the ‘This Is My Wish’ programme to fulfil wishes of 30 sick children at a cost of QR38,500 to enhance their morale and help them respond to treatment.
One week ago, QRC distributed Ramadan aid to 250 needy families under the slogan ‘Comfort for Them,’ with a finance of QR 400,000 from Social and Sports Activities Fund.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs reviewed and selected beneficiaries from among social security-recipient families to help them pay cost of living and feel satisfied during the fasting season.
QRC’s Ramadan campaign, launched this year under the theme ‘Your Donation Is Their Lifeline,’ is an annual tradition to raise funds and intensify medical, social, and humanitarian activities during the holy month.
