Qatari police arrested five Nepali female workers working in the country after they filed complaints with the local labour department against their company for keeping them illegally and not paying them salary for the past three months.

Police detained the female Nepali migrant workers women under direction from the company immediately after they pressed charges against their employee at labour department.

Ran  Kumari Shrestha of Dolakha district, Pin Kumari Gurung from Syangja, Muna Limbu of Morang, Raj Kumar Sakarni of Sindhuli, and Uma Ale of Parbat were arrested.

They went to Qatar under sponsorship from Carnival Cleaning Company. “We worked in the Carnival Company before. We were transferred to Al Khatiyar Al Arabi Company last year,” Ran Kumari Shrestha said, “We are being kept here without Visa since a year. They have not paid us salary for the last three months.”

Embassy spokesperson Nitish Sapkota, who oversees labour affairs, assured that the victim would be sent to Nepal after clearing all the accounts. “They will be sent only after settling the accounts,” he said, “Discussions are being held with the concerned authority about this matter.”

The victims have also demanded action against the company that did not renew their visa.

This is not fair!
