According to an update shared by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) on its official Twitter page, the first batch of citizens, who were evacuated from Iran and subjected to quarantine upon arrival in Qatar, has been released from the facility.

The group of 121 citizens successfully cleared all required testing (to check for COVID-19) in line with international standards.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, Director of the Public Health Department at Qatar's Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) stated that these individuals were released after ensuring that they were free from the virus, The Peninsula reported.

As an added precautionary measure, the Ministry has asked the individuals to isolate themselves for an additional week.

The most recent reports of these individuals (from yesterday) indicated they were free of COVID-19.

Officials from the Ministry continue to implement all necessary measures to contain the spread of the infection among the population

So far the Ministry has conducted about 6,000 tests, in this regard.

"This is one of the highest number of tests globally and second only to South Korea,”  Sheikh Mohamed had mentioned at a press conference yesterday.

The Ministry continues to urge members of the public to follow all recommended precautionary measures to protect themselves from contracting the virus.

Here's everything you need to know about the virus
