Expect an 'Anonymous' cyber attack on Qatar

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has issued a notice that warns public against a possible cyber attack on June 20 to be launched by the hacker group “Anonymous.”
The MoI is taking the necessary precautions against the “hacktivist” group’s threat dubbed #OpPetrol that was announced over the Internet on June 20 last year.
The threat identified countries involved in the global oil trade such as the US, Canada, England, Israel, China, Italy, France, Russia, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar.
The online “assaults” are expected to be in the form of “Distributed Denial-of-Service” (DDoS) attacks, suspicious websites, compromising information systems, password guessing or requests, and Phishing.
The necessary precautions to prevent any kind of cyber intrusion involve the use of high-quality protective procedures and firewalls in personal computers, laptops, smartphones or similar devices, including those used in government and corporate entities.
Other safety procedures can be utilised like changing passwords for computers and e-mail accounts. The password should be long and compound to prevent hacking.
It is also recommended to save additional copies of forms and other important, sensitive, and classified files in storage devices such as external drives or DVDs.
Computers with Internet connectivity should be turned off to avoid any online risks.
