Expat sentenced to six months in prison for snatching purse
A criminal court has sentenced a Pakistani to six months in jail for snatching a lady's purse from a car at a petrol station in Al Waab and ordered him deported after serving his term.
The convict parked his car near the petrol station where he saw a woman getting down from her car, leaving the doors opened.
He went up to the car, grabbed the purse inside and ran away.
A housemaid inside the car testified as a witness.
The purse included QR2,100 and health and bank cards, the local daily Al Raya reports. However, it did not say how he was caught.
The convict confessed before Public Prosecution but denied the charges in the court. Based on the witness' testimony, the court ruled. [The Peninsula]
@gasoline , it means the offender admitted the accusation in front of police then denied the accusation again in the court in front of the judge . by other words : there is contradiction in the disposition :)
