An Asian expatriate man has been sentenced to three years in jail for killing his compatriot co-worker in a fight.

Gulf Times reports that according to the local Arabic daily Arrayah, a Doha criminal court also ordered the defendant to pay a sum of QR200,000 as the blood money for the legal heir of the victim as the case was registered as unpremeditated murder.

The defendant and the victim had a fight at an under construction house, after the defendant insulted the victim, according to the testimony of a co-worker.

The witness told the court that he saw the two fighting each other and tried to intervene.

However, the victim fell from the upper floor to the ground floor and was severely injured. The issue was reported to the police and the victim was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, the daily added.

brit if you pay blood money for causing accidental death you don't get punished according to the Islamic laws but engaging in a fight with another person who only offended you verbally is considered a violation and an aggression in itself

OK.. I'm confused.. I thought that if you paid blood money than you don't have to be punished ... Am I wrong ?

I think three years of jail term is a very lenient punishment.
