Doha Court orders hospital to pay compensation for a medical error
The Court of Appeal has upheld a ruling of the Court of First Instance ordering a hospital to pay a compensation of QR1mn to a woman for committing a medical error.
Gulf Times reports that according to the local Arabic daily Arrayah the woman had a Cesarean section delivery at the hospital and gave birth to twins.
However, negligence and medical error led to blindness in the newborns as well as brain damage, as was established by the court.
A report by a medical body appointed by the court confirmed that the woman did not get enough medical care and attention and the physician's assessment of the case also contributed to the adverse consequences, the daily reported.
Accordingly, the court ruled that the woman deserved compensation for the damage she and her babies sustained.
The lawyer for the woman initially requested a huge compensation, arguing that she would require the money for the treatment of her children.
Any idea which hospoital ? :/
Money can't retrieve what she lost.
may Allah bless the new born and mother with good recovery of health and wellness.Ameen!
very tragic indeed, some level of justice done
Mother should head straight to the HH Emir's office ..........
Never .......... never in my life have ever read / heard about such a big blunder in the medical field ............. extreme negligence .......... !!!
What a tragic outcome. Well done to the court.. However, the compensation should be greater since she has to care for the offspring for the rest of their lives.
