Car dealers in Qatar stressing over dwindling sales
The uncertain nature of the current market situation has dealt a heavy blow to new and second hand car dealers in Qatar.
Most of the dealers are now trying to spur sales by offering attractive deals, although there have not been many takers, according to a Qatar Tribune report.
Offers like in-house financing, free service package and 'buy now pay later' are being given but have failed to evoke the desired response.
Rida Jalal, an expatriate director of a car showroom, said free advertisements on the Internet, particularly social media, have made it easier for individuals to sell their cars directly.
Several users on Qatar Living also shared their opinions on why they prefer buying vehicles online. [Check comments on this article]
Stringent regulations on displaying vehicles have also hit sales. Due to the low sales, business owners in Qatar have requested a respite from rent hikes, reports Gulf Times.
"High rents have always been an obstacle for business development," said a retailer, adding that steep rise in commercial rents has resulted in the closure of several establishments in the last few years.
