Blended learning combines online learning and in-person teaching, MoEHE highlights

With the new academic year 2020-2021 a few days away, Qatar's Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) confirmed that students across Qatar will receive their education through the 'blended learning' approach.
In an infographic shared on its official Twitter page, the Ministry explained this approach and shined a spotlight on student attendance and distance learning as blended learning will go into effect.
This educational approach combines online learning and in-person teaching in the classroom, MoEHE said. Students will attend classes 1 to 3 times per week to do coursework, experiments, and exams.

The following will apply for student attendance under this new approach:
- Students will be informed about the blended learning approach in schools from September 1 to 3.
- During the first term, schools will receive only 30 percent of their students capacity to attend in-person classes daily.
- Schools will inform the concerned parents through SMS about the in-school days of attendance for each student.
- Each student should attend one to three classes per week in-person, as assigned by the school.
The following will apply for distance learning under this new approach:
- There will be six sessions in a day
- Distance learning will include recorded lessons
- The duration of each session will be 15 to 20 minutes
- Students must have usernames and passwords to watch recorded lessons and complete assessments on the Qlearning portal.
- Access to MS Teams App
- There will be daily/ weekly assessment
- Parents to provide computers for their child(ren), and make sure they have the username and password.
- Parents should also create a convenient environment and offer their child(ren) support and guidance.
- For technical support, the Ministry has dedicated the hotline, 155.
Precautionary measures must always be followed to help control the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry stressed.
Earlier this week, MoEHE and the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced that they are cooperating to train members of the health and safety committees in schools to implement the preventive and precautionary measures against COVID-19 to ensure the safety of students and staff.
