A delegation from the Amnesty International arrived in Doha yesterday to assess the impact of the unjust blockade imposed on Qatar by the Saudi Arabia-led bloc, reported Qatar Tribune.

This is the second time the delegation is visiting Qatar since the illegal siege began on June 5.

The delegation, which was received by officials from the National Human rights Committee (NHRC), is scheduled to meet people whose human rights have been affected by the unjust blockade. The team will assess violations of their human rights and right to perform religious rites.

They will also study the impact of the blockade on education, health, travel, residency and work of Qatar and GCC nationals.

As recently as Monday, three Qatari officials who work with the Gulf Cooperation Council General Secretariat had been turned back from passing through Saudi Arabia.

The delegation is scheduled to meet Hajj and Umrah campaign officials to investigate the obstacles put up by the Saudi authorities.

NHRC officials informed the Amnesty delegation that the blockading countries have been continuing with their arbitrary measures, violating the rights of Qatari citizens and residents as well as of GCC nationals.

The NHRC officials also pointed out that some senior officials of the blockading countries have been spreading hatred against Qatar.

Irresponsible statements like bombing the Al Jazeera Media Network office by some officials of the blockading countries threaten the security of citizens and residents of Qatar, they added.

The NHRC officials have called for an urgent legal action at the international level to put an end to these violations. The officials also provided the Amnesty delegation with the latest statistics on the violations resulting from the siege.
