Al Kawari honoured with ‘Man of the Arab Heritage’ Award
HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Cultural Adviser to the Emiri Diwan and Qatar’s candidate for the post of Unesco Director-General, was honoured with the 2016 ‘Man of the Arab Heritage’ award, in a ceremony in Dubai.
The award comes as a recognition of Qatar’s efforts to preserve and protect heritage, which occupies a prominent position in the country’s development plan as directed by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, said Dr Al Kawari during his speech at the award ceremony.
Man of the Arab Heritage is the most important award presented by the Arab Centre for Tourism Media (ACTM). The ACTM aims to promote Arab tourism and preserve the Arab heritage
Al Kawari said that the award comes in a difficult time when the Arab and Islamic heritage is facing destruction and demolition by the advocates of rigid ideologies who do not recognize the value of heritage and do not represent the tolerance of Islam and the Arab civilization.
