As Qatar continues to implement its four-phased plan for the gradual easing of restrictions, the Qatari Cabinet today amended its earlier decision regarding the percentage of workers allowed to work in offices.

In its weekly meeting chaired by His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, the Cabinet decided to allow private and government offices to operate with 80 percent workforce in offices.

The meeting was held through video conferencing and commenced with a briefing from Her Excellency the Minister of Public Health on the latest developments to contain COVID-19 in Qatar.

The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures taken to fight the epidemic.

Following the meeting, HE Dr Issa bin Saad Al-Jafali Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, made the following announcement:

- Amending the decision regarding reducing the number of employees in the government sector present at their place of work, to start, according to the need for work, not to exceed 80 percent of the total number of employees working in the office. The rest of the employees to work remotely from their homes, or on request, as appropriate.

- Amending the decision to reduce the number of workers present in the workplace in the private sector, so that no more than 80 percent of the total number of workers start their work from the office, and the rest of them start their work remotely from their homes.

- Amending the decision regarding stopping medical services in health facilities, so that these services are provided within 80 percent of the capacity of private health care facilities. They can do so while continuing to provide emergency services.

The Cabinet said the following must be taken into consideration for these decisions:

- the previous exceptions decided by the Council of Ministers

- Compliance with all necessary health requirements, precautionary measures and guidelines as established by the Ministry of Public Health.

- The competent authorities, each in its jurisdiction, must take the necessary measures in this regard.

The Cabinet said that this will be effective from Tuesday, July 28 until further notice.

Yesterday, Qatar also reviewed its travel policy and issued a list of low-risk countries as well as other important guidelines regarding COVID-19 testing and quarantine requirements for those traveling to the country from phase 3, starting August 1.
