High-octane racing on show on final day of Qatar 1812km race

The final day of the Qatar 1812 KM – FIA World Endurance Championship delivered an action-packed schedule, featuring top-quality competition in support races, a ceremonial lap of honor, and the grand opening of the endurance spectacle, allowing fans at Lusail International Circuit to witness non-stop motorsport excitement.

“It brings us great delight that we were able to successfully host the Qatar 1812 KM – FIA World Endurance Championship 2025,” said Abdulaziz Ali Al Mohannadi, CEO of Lusail International Circuit.

“This year, we were able to showcase a complete motorsport ecosystem, with the WEC as our premier showcase supported by the F4 Middle East, Formula Regional Middle East, and Lusail Classic races, which formed a platform that both honored motorsport heritage and developed future talent.”

The day commenced with support races, starting with Race 3 of the F4 Middle East Championship, followed by Race 3 of the Formula Regional Middle East Championship, and concluding with Race 2 of the Lusail Classic.

In Race 3 of the F4 Middle East Championship, Alex PowellEmanuele Olivieri, and Reno Francot secured the top three positions, finishing with times of 31:20.582sec31:21.586sec, and 31:28.389sec respectively.

Qatari drivers Taha Hassiba, Bader Al Sulaiti, and Tameem Hassiba put in commendable performances, placing fourth, sixth, and ninth in the rookie category.

In the Formula Regional Middle East ChampionshipJack Beeton claimed victory, with Ugo Ugochukwu and Nikita Bedrin securing second and third place, finishing with times of 30:25.821sec30:27.603sec,  and 30:28.746 respectively.

The Lusail Classic Race 2 saw a thrilling battle between historic race cars. Car #4, a Porsche 908/03 (1971), led the grid with a time of 30:47.007, followed by Car #99, a Chevron B19 (1971), and Car #75, a Chevron B31 (1975), finishing 12.339sec and 46.248sec behind the leader.

The excitement continued as the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) drivers took to the track for the Lap of Honor, a ceremonial tribute to legendary drivers, past champions, and iconic race cars.

This was followed by the official opening ceremony of the Qatar 1812 KM, which commenced with the Qatar National Anthem, sung by a choir from Qatar Music Academy, and a traditional Qatari Folk Dance, Ardha.

At 2pm, the green flag was waved, marking the start of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship season, with a grid of 36 cars competing in the Hypercar and LMGT3 categories.

Fans at Lusail International Circuit enjoyed constant track action throughout the day and explored the fan zone, which offered interactive activities for families and motorsport enthusiasts of all ages.

The event concluded with a spectacular fireworks display, providing a fitting finale to an unforgettable day of racing.
