There are a lot of amazing shows on Netflix and you can choose from a selection of genres. Whether it is historical dramas, reality shows, comedies, rom-coms, sitcoms, anime, or documentaries—there are many stellar shows for everyone to watch.
Qatar Living has curated a list of shows for you to binge-watch while you stay home for the next few weekends.
The Crown
If you are a keen follower of history and love period dramas, then The Crown is just the show for you. The series is about Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, and the Royal Family since her accession to the throne in 1952 till present. The drama series finished its fourth season and is currently under production for the fifth season, which also covers the tragic story of Princess Diana.
The Crown is meant to be more than a docu-series. It is exceptionally well-researched and based on real facts and fictional in some cases. The star cast consists of veteran British actors including Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham Carter, Matt Smith, and many more.
Anne with an ‘E’
Anne with an E is a reimagined series based on the classic children’s novel Anne of the Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Anne is an orphan who is seeking acceptance from the world and finds a home with a spinster lady and her kind brother.
The story is heartwarming, funny, and poignant at times and the character of Anne is sure to win your heart. We’d say it is ideal to sit and watch with your whole family on a rainy winter eve.
The Queen’s Gambit
Chess enthusiasts are in for a treat with this limited mini-series. The Queen’s Gambit is based on an orphan chess prodigy, Elizabeth Harmon, who is on her path to becoming an elite chess player and also deals with several emotional problems.
Without any prior chess experience, she quickly aces the game taught by her orphanage’s custodian Mr. Shaibel and one day competes in many leading world championships. Even if you are not a chess fan, you will be delighted with the storyline and Anya Taylor Joy’s great acting skills.
Chef’s Table
Food connoisseurs are in for an absolute treat with Chef’s Table. The show’s episodes cover the life of culinary stars from around the world and how they are making a change in the food world with their accomplishments. Covered honestly like a documentary, each episode covers one chef and shares moving stories of their passion, lives, and career path. The stories are inspiring and the show has gained great popularity with people interested in the culinary world.
Chef’s Table has been made into six volumes and also has its own spin-off series Chef’s Table BBQ and Chef’s Table France. You’ll be hungry watching this, don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Better Call Saul
If you’ve loved the legendary series Breaking Bad, you will love this! Made by the same creators, Better Call Saul is a spin-off or prequel show that is set in New Mexico, Albuquerque.
The main character is Jimmy McGill, who was also the lawyer Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad, and his transition into a defense attorney with questionable morals. The show is well-directed and has a great storyline with its dramatic, funny, gripping moments. Breaking Bad fans will truly enjoy the show.
Bake Squad
Netflix’s recently launched Bake Squad is a reality show with a team of four amazing professional baker-artists who try to satisfy a new client in each episode. From making edible play areas for a first birthday cake smash to recreating a 34th-anniversary cake for a Texan couple, the bake squad is sure to wow you with their creations.
From intense, nerve-wracking moments in the kitchen to being surprised with the most innovative final creations, Bake Squad is sure to keep you and the whole family glued to the screens. Mark our words, you’ll be left craving some of these drool-worthy desserts too!
Explained
If you find the ideas and functioning behind various life concepts fascinating, then Netflix has just the show for you. Explained is a documentary mini-series that covers topical information on intriguing concepts and explains the pros and cons along with the history of each topic.

Arcane
If you thought we’ll list our most-loved Netflix shows without getting in an anime recommendation, then you’re wrong. Among several great anime shows on the platform, Arcane is a sure-shot favorite. It is an animated action-adventure series from the League of Legends world that covers the story of two sisters who fight from rival cities of Piltover and Zaun.
The sisters, Vi and Jinx, fight over clashing convictions and arcane magic technologies. The show has been ranked in Netflix Top 10 Chart in over 52 countries and is already in production for a second season.
Next in Fashion
Netflix has something for everyone and fashionistas will certainly enjoy this high-power reality show, Next in Fashion. The show is a fashion and design competition with renowned designers Tan France and Alexa Chung and several guest judges. There are several innovative from around the world who compete in each episode to reach the finale and finally win a grand prize of $250,000 and a debut launch on luxury fashion retailer site Net-A-porter.
Each episode has a theme and the designers are assigned into teams of two and given two days to bring life to their designs from scratch. The show is absolutely binge-worthy with its moments of dramatic fashion, anxious contestants racing against time, putting the final look together, and the ultimate runway display.
