Ten-year-old Michi never knew his father, and for five years since the tragic death of his mother, he has lived in a rough-and-tumble group home for orphaned children. Like many of the other kids in the home, Michi wonders what life would be like with his father – whom he imagines to be a jet pilot, or something exciting along those lines. When he chances upon an old, unsent letter from his mother announcing her pregnancy to a man named Tom, Michi thinks his dream has come true. When he finally meets Tom, however, the man is not quite what Michi expected.

For almost a decade, Kenya has been the target of terrorist attacks by the Al-Shabaab group, and this has led to mistrust between Christian and Muslim populations. When a Christian woman who experienced violence at the hands of Al-Shabaab, travels home in a bus of predominantly Muslim passengers, she is at once anxious and indignant. But when the bus is stopped by a group of terrorists, humanity prevails. Based on real-life events, “All of Us” demonstrates that true faith is stronger than hatred.

Our Wonderful Nature – The Common Chameleon
Tomer Eshed / Short Narrative / Germany / 2016 / 4 min / Colour / DCP
In English / Arabic subtitles
An insatiably hungry chameleon lazes on a tree branch in the forest, unseen by the happily buzzing insects that fly nearby until it is too late and – snap! – out comes the lizard’s very long tongue and the squishy bugs become dinner. But the crafty creature’s eyes might prove to be too big for his tummy as he greedily goes after increasingly large prey. “The Common Chameleon” is a hilarious film told in the style of a short nature documentary.
