LIfe After Qatar
By Obed Castro Jr •
I am a Filipino who have stayed here in Qatar for almost 9 years happy to say that my stay here has been fruitful, I manage to have my own house and maybe save a little, now i am deciding to go back to my native country, but what will i do when i am back..same to all other nationalities "what will you do with your life after Qatar"
me.. i left qatar last oct as i was getting sick and lonely there... am doing work from home for the meantime thru internet...
till i get a decent job here in phil..
you'll hate to be here and will miss qatar for a month, then you'll get used to be here after that...
thats what i have been experiencing... :)
but i dont have regrets leaving qatar for good..
besides our country has a lot to offer when it comes to living happily and exploring places, but that is when you have saved a lot from working in qatar. just based on my experience. :)
i worked there for 4 years, so u must have a lot more savings than i did. i just got a land, and u got a house.
do some business if you want.. there's a lot of opportunity here, yet you have to be smart. okei.

YOu will miss qatar but where you will be happy go on...its a matter of choice and make the right choice..
Theres no place like home..
A working single parent as alwayss but with my kids :)
you will surely miss qatar especially those people around you during happy and sad days... but... going back home is really a great one when you were with your real family... opportunities are still there and it does not close... after 4 years in Doha, I am now in Norway at the middle of the North Sea...
LIFE AFTER QATAR!?
Well, it's been few days now past a year since i left Qatar and what can i say? Life is fun anywhere we go, especially backhome where we can get to do many things that we can't do in Qatar.
When i arrived here last year, I thought early retirement from rat-race would be fun, yes for a while it was, but up until reality and boredom kicks in!
As i found it, life's learning must be continuously fed with fire in order to keep the excitement level of life at the peak.
At the onset of things manifesting, one will find plenty of ways to rekindle those dormant whims and desires kept at the back of mind that will sustain ones' drive to keep up with the flow of life.
As one saying goes, "take your passion and make it happen".
Whatever you decide to take on after Qatar, I wish you All the Best :)
I've been almost 6 years working in qatar...i finished my contract last march.now am feeling bored,i'm missing qatar and i wanna go back n work again there.haaayyy...
why the thread title looks like "life after death"?
:p
I was 24 when I came to Qatar & nine years after, I decided to leave for good. During my nine years, I gained a network of associates who later introduced clients for my new import-export business.
Don't rely on your host countries for opportunities. You have to create them yourself in whatever & wherever situation you are. If you can't, then you have a serious crisis in your hands.
Obed kabayan I've been here for 18.5 years already. But going back home never cross my mind. If ever I decided to leave Qatar for good I'd transfer to a much better place. And that would be the land of the free. I just got a multi entry visa recently. Just waiting for the right time. Anyway it's case to case basis. If going home would be the best option for you then go for it. Good luck.
May god bliss you with further joy & prosperity :)
it's been a while since you last posted here...i hope you continue doing so every now & then

LIVE...
Hello Obed. I am so glad to hear about your plans on going home for good. I am sure you have saved enough for this huge change in your life. As to what you can do after Qatar, starting up a business is one and the best. It would be great if you'd find a way to multiply your savings instead of just waiting for them to drain. I am sure coming back after leaving Qatar 'for good' won't be a part of your plan. All the best!
well for me.. still want to stay a year more and khalas... good bye qatar... as i will have no more obligations back home.. can live the way i want.. jejejeje...
I just moved back to the US two months ago, after 6 years in Qatar. I thought I'd miss a lot of things about living there, but the truth is I'm still thrilled every day to be home. This morning I woke up at dawn to the sound of birdsong in the trees in my front garden, and I felt like I had died and gone to heaven.
Almost 7 years in the Gulf, with all teh bad aspects; I do not see myself working back home (so far)
duh budslightyear, can't secure a loan cause you earnn small time nigga. I can secure a loan anytime of da day. Mind yah own bizz, peace out loosah. QL rules!!!!
Live life at its best..Wherever we go..we should always do this.. (Though term "best" is define differently by each individual, depending on their character and ambition.. For me "best" is when I have my family right beside me... )
next week .what will I do? work work work.
Goin' home is the best and incomparable to any other joys, you just have to plan ahead what you will do with your savings, investing on small business is a good plan to start again, so all your hard-earned money wont be wasted all at once. ;)
@ backlog 19 yeah, talking about contributing to filipinos already bad reputation.
The likes of you makes life more difficult for filipinos (and citizens of 3rd world countries)to secure loans even with legit reasons. you shouldn't have left the philippines in the first place.
i hope you're not serious about your post.
I've been here in qatar for 2 years but i feel very home sick everytime i see picture of places in the philippines. I will take a loan first then escape to the philippines
Be smart of spending your savings and continue on what you have learned during your stay in Qatar..
regards to our mother country... soon I will be the next on you..
Do all that you have been planning to back home all these years ... I am sure 9 yrs stay here will definitely allow you to. But be careful not to blow up the savings. As for me whenever I go back, it will be for a light hearted job allowing me to spend more time with my family.
Sometimes going back scares us the most because we have missed a lot things in our country. We think that so many things changed already there and we may not adjust easily, when the truth is it's us being here in a different culture that has changed a lot.
Try to relax first, enjoy your hard earned money. But make sure you do have a plan to sustain yourself and your family. You know how it is in the Philippines, money flows like water, and you being an OFW everybody thinks you brought a sack full of QR.
Honestly, its more practical that while here, we do start a business in our countries then if its doing okay then that is the time to make a decision to come home. O well, that is just my opinion.
Good luck and God Bless.
and you'll be back here sooner than you think! Nine years, many habits learned and as what the saying says, "old habit hard to forget".
as they say, venture in your own business... reconnect old ties with family and see the beauty of our native land...
future!! how can v say!!
I will sit on my roof in the sun, read a newspaper that contains real news, drink cold beer bought from a proper supermarket at a fair price, fire up my bbq and eat real sausages. I could go on but I would only bore you to death even more than Doha does.
((XX))
goin' home means to live in normal life again...
i think 9years was just enough. remember, money can't buy happiness your family and friends can give. goodluck keka at all taga san joaquin..
I will be sane again.
I can't practice my conviction totally free. It's good in Bahrain and very soon in Dubai, really having second thought of moving there!
as per plan! Travel to another country or go home! Life there would be more simpler and REAL FREEDOM!
We still have more years to stay in QATAR..So haven't yet thought about it..
and start some venture of your own!
i think every ofw will go back home eventually once they reach their goal. sadly some are still here trying to make ends meet especially when the demands back home are too high. im glad that some of my kabayans are able to make it and hope everything will work out back home. just remember to hold on to the money and tell them its not a vacation but its for good :)goodluck!
1.) Check the economy back home!
2.) Check the crime rate back home!
3.) Check the weather back home!
4.) Check if you have enough money to survive!
5.) Check if once your out of money, your age is right enough to get a good job!
****If the TO DO's don't fit you, better cancel your flight! Go back to work!
Let me know if you want a HOPING LIST from me and i will let you know.
Best of luck!
Mr. Balut
they are lucky who go back to thier home its better to go back before too late
its called sarcastic analogy
musta?
Why don't you start a small business; be a boss once in your life lol. I'm venturing now on egg production and it's going good. Am planning to go home maybe next year, if my business will go better.
whether you miss it or not. If your standard of living and chance for employment is better here, why wouldn't you want to stay until you see the situation in your homeland improve?
life after death...is real life
people say that it is amazing to return to your home country and relax, but honestly, I do not feel like that. sure I miss my family, but I really do not miss living in my home country.
is that wierd or many people feel the same way
I have been here 5.5 Years already
enjoy!!! more freedom...
chillax...
Will have to start working hard again once I am back home.
You can eat "Abobo Boboy" and no be inprisoned.... This is just a paycheck for me...I am not looking into a future for me and my family here! Back home is just that...Home
back to normal life.
Relax and watch the world go by..
for sure your gonna miss the busy life.. You know all things are uncertain.. but its never bad to prepare for something.. so i guess better plan up if your goin home for good...
no yet thought abt it.as of now Back home is just vacation Spot........
Place of living would change but life would go on normally as in Qatar.....
