Hey Montrealer!

Don't worry it will get better but there is nothing like home. I even miss the cold weather (-37 today with windshield). All I know is that you never know what you will miss until it's gone. Let's not forget the GREAT restaurants and a night on St-Laurent!

My husband moved here November 2007 and I joined him last September 2008. Things are so different here.

We have to try to get Canadians together.

Have a great one!

Its Toronto (3.5 mil), Vancouver (3.3 Mil), Montreal (3 Mil), then Calgary and Edmonton (about 1 mil each) in terms of population size of cities.....or there abouts the last time I checked (which admittedly was a few years ago so =p).

I'm from Montreal myself, but my wife is from Edmonton, and we lived in Alberta the last 5 years before moving out here.

I miss home so much...i'll never complain about de-icing my car again I swear! LOL

well Calgary and Edmonton are some of the biggest cities in Canada (I believe). There's lots of people, mostly eastern Canadians (Newfoundland, Maritimes etc) so prepare for wacky accents :) if you like drunken shennanigans, it's the right place- think old west but with pickup trucks.

and this is a place you have to plug your cars in overnight so you can start them again...it's beyond cold.

But what I want to know is if there are a lot of people there or is it more on the deserted side.. I would like to make friend and have a very active social ife.. I am trying to get a job in Edmonton or Calgary.. If it comes thru, I might be able to shift within the next few months. I have never experienced temperature below +3 so i am sure it would seem like frozen hell to me.

Calgary is awesome, particularly during Stampede...any place who makes deepfried cheesecake and things Chuck Wagon races are a good idea has to rock...

Kareena, yeah there's lots of work in the province (not state- we have provinces) of Alberta, but you'll probably be up in the north, in Fort McMurry or Grande Prairie...which are basically hell. cold hell. having a tea party. with northern lights.

I have applied for Canadian immigration and just waiting to move out of here.. I am probably going to stay and work in the state of Alberta.. Either Calgary or Edmonton.. I have oil & gas experience so it would be easier to get job in Alberta since they have lots of oil gas sectors and refineries. Anybody here from Alberta? I would appreciate some feedback.
