Hi,

Why don't HMC allow Husband to be with his wife during Labour, I am sure a lady will have good / more strong while her husband along side her and she will feel more confortable...

In addition, Husband will witness the pain she going through, and he will have more respect to his wife.

Thoughts ??

WT: Brought back memories .. My wife too nearly broke the bones in my hand :0)

By the way, I attended the births of my children and my wife held my hand (almost squashed it). But seeing your child as the first is something I would not want to miss even if the "tradition" or some other sick rule doesn't allow it.

Since it takes two people to "make" the baby, these to people have the right to attend the birth of "their" child. Everything else is sick traditional rubbish!

I agree there should be a choice at least, although it is custom in many countries not to allow men in the delivery room, it is strange for others and for me as in the UK my husband was present for both births of my daughters and was a great support. I wish he could also be present for the third but it seems not possible in Qatar unless you go private.

Do HMC allow female family members in the delivery room at all? I've read mixed answers about allowing any family members present at the birth at all?

Achchabacha.... it is not wrong thinking....

If you see some couples, I wonder why they got marry...

I personally heard from people telling that, "Just imagine how our mothers went through this pain situation while our birth" with less technology.

Those days, many are delivered at home...

Agree with Britexpat, that at least the choice can be given.

Today's DohaNews discussing few things about this too

Certain things, I agree that, sometime, husbands may go mad and can disturb the Team.

But I wish, at least if they have a choice with restricted rules.

Zam, I differ , a man who has a kind no respect for his mother by not learning general manners of civility for the society can't be taught for the 2nd time ......... he forgot all his mom's pregnancy / labor pains & efforts in raising him up ...........

To each his own... Some "cultures" allow it . Some don't.

There is an argument for both. I recall a colleague who attended his child's birth .. He fainted and had to be taken out by the nurse.

However, I do believe that perhaps a choice should be given - if you want to attend - fine. If you don't , then that's fine too.

This is not needed .. The mother can take care of herself .. Husband can work hard and provide for the family

If seeing a wife going through pain will get you to respect her more, then there is something seriously wrong in your thinking.

In many countries including mine, it is not the practice to allow husbands in the delivery room when the wife is undergoing labor. The experienced doctors, midwives and staff are there to take care of her in every way. Also, there are many "men" who may not be able to face the situation in the labor room, may swoon and collapse. What then? The doctor will then have "two" emergency situations to handle. --- one of them that was not required at all.
