This year's summer is quite different from the ones we've experienced in the past. With barely any outdoor activities for kids to take part in, it's been quite a challenge for parents to keep children occupied.

Anushay Qaiser, an expat in Qatar who is a mother of a toddler, has been on the hunt for some interesting things for children to enjoy at home. In a list she's put together, she shines a spotlight on some of her top picks from around town. 

Rosyland Handicrafts

I came across Rosyland Handicrafts when I was on a hunt to find new toys for my child. What actually made me stick to the page eventually was their rag doll kit. Yes, it's amazing to buy from them in the first place but making your own rag doll? This keeps the children interested in an activity as they create something that lasts forever! Other items on the list that I would recommend would be their pen dolls that can be the highlight to any room!

The name says it all – it’s a business made in the desert for those who live in the desert.

With summer in full swing, it is the ideal time to get a few items from this store. Little Palm is a Qatar born small brand that specializes in children wear. The best part is that mamas can even match with their children and voila! You have yourself a unique outfit!

A brand that came out of a passion for introducing new finds to children, this is a classic in my book (see what I did there) You can find classic tales at BookBag that have been adapted for young children and encouraging them to read, creative twists to our good ol’ stories, affirmation and well-being cards that can be used as motivational tools, this is actually a gem that is useful for parents and teachers.

Organic is the new fashion and we are living for it. High-quality products are always a YES from us and when they come in the form of the cutest machine washable toys, prettiest little pillows, attractive playmats, fluffy blankets, or teething rings it is simply fantastic.

To make things better, you can get yourself organic gift baskets to add all these goodies in as well. And as I write this, I’m waiting on my Minion cuddly friend.

CooBee Handmade

Coobee roped me in with their shoes and fantastic designs that came with the highest quality. From their colorful summer shoe collection to the beautifully crafted white laces shoes, their experiments have the right vibe for every occasion.

Pastels & pearls and some beachy choices later, I discovered kaftans to complement the shoes was like the extra whipping cream on top of my Caramel Frappuccino.

Making sure they add the ‘cutsie’ element to their designs, you’ll see the trendiest kaftans that are simply blissful to look at. And as we speak of summers, let’s just give a special shout out to this brand for introducing me to their handmade sunglasses chain.
