Recovered COVID-19 patients praise Qatar's healthcare facilities

While the number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Qatar are on the rise, the country continues to ensure it has adequate and well-equipped healthcare facilities to provide the required care to all those infected with the virus.
In addition to converting its existing facilities into dedicated COVID-19 treatment and testing centers earlier, Qatar recently set up two field hospitals to meet the challenge.
In terms of treatment, top officials from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) highlighted earlier this month that COVID-19 patients are being treated with state-of-the-art options under HMC's care.
Now, some patients who have recovered from the infection have shared their experiences about the treatment they received.
On its official Twitter page the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) shared the experiences of two expatriates who successfully beat the virus.
Fifty-year-old, Borja Entrala Fabregas, who spent 25 days at the hospital as he received treatment for COVID-19, was all praise for the care he received.
"I know that I am alive thanks to the 5-star equipment and the amazing human team that treated me, to whom I will be eternally thankful. There are not enough words to describe this feeling of gratitude toward the health system of Qatar," Fabregas said in a statement posted by MoPH.
Another COVID-19 recovered patient, 23-year-old, Goncalo Fernandes, also appreciated and acknowledged the care he received during his treatment in Qatar.
"The isolation facilities were great. We had plenty of food and drink. I loved my time there. Amazing professionals. Space to run, walk, catch some sun. Since we were in a walled compound with around 100 houses," he mentioned.
Two recovered Qatari patients had similar words of appreciation for Qatar's health system, Gulf Times reported.
Rida Mitwali and Adel Al Haram lauded the efficient health facilities and the dedication of health workers during the time they received treatment for COVID-19.
Al Haram said he has already donated his blood plasma to support Qatar's efforts to fight the disease. He said he did this "as gratitude for the excellent care I got from the country."
Mitwali also expressed his intention to donate his plasma.
Qatar has been using blood plasma treatment for COVID-19 patients.
The treatment involves collecting blood from patients who have fully recovered from COVID-19, then transfusing this blood into patients who are currently receiving treatment for the virus.
The idea behind this treatment is that the antibodies that were formed in a COVID-19 survivor, which helped the patient defeat the virus, may also be useful to fight the virus in other affected patients.
For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.
Here's everything you need to know about the virus, including ways to protect yourself.
