Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has communicated that diabetics who are fasting will be required to practice home monitoring this coming Ramadan.

Diabetics are advised to monitor their blood glucose levels glucose while fasting and also during nighttime.

This will enable diabetics to make sure that their blood glucose levels are properly controlled in order to avoid the repercussions when fasting.

According to an expert at HMC, individuals who are diabetic and fasting are especially susceptible to hypoglycemia if the Suhoor meal is missed while taking sugar controlling medicines or when exerting too much physical effort.

Therefore, it is highly recommended that the necessary measuring tools be procured so that you can test your blood sugar levels safely from home.

In another post, HMC has also pointed out that the COVID-19 vaccine can be taken even while fasting and does not affect the validity of the fast.

HMC had highlighted that the vaccine is taken intramuscularly and does not reach inside the body through a regular path, which is not nutritious.
