Yoga for Back Care Class
Do you spend hours:
• sitting at a desk, hunched over a computer?
• driving in heavy traffic?
• doing activities such as gardening, which involve
bending and lifting?
• playing sports such as tennis, golf, or rugby
which can stress the back?
• Does your back respond with tension in the neck,
tight shoulders, aching lower back?
If yes, your back would probably benefit from some care and attention! Regular yoga practice can be intensely helpful in dealing with episodes of mild-to-moderate back pain and stiffness.
In this class, we use gentle, relaxing stretches to:
• practice the basics of self-care and maintenance
for a healthy back
• create awareness of pelvic positioning and its
effect on the lower back
• increase flexibility of the spine, hips, and
shoulders
• break the unconscious habits which lead to tension
and pain
• provide relief for chronic or occasional back pain
