Where do families tend to live in Doha?

We're moving from the UK and are trying to work out where in Doha we should live. Hopefully a house and close to other UK/European residents...we've looked at DESS and Park House as potential primary schools for our children but haven't got much further.

Any ideas much appreciated!!

Since your child will be going to Park House, Al Fardan III will be your best best. That'll save you crossing Salwa Rd. Otherwise, Al Rayyan Gardens or Beverly Hills Compounds in Al Waab are suitable. Not too far from the school but of course you will have to cross Salwa Rd. Good luck

Hi, i am from uk, only been here 3 weeks now. Been living in temporary apartment in Beverly Hills Tower. We move this weekend to the compound mentioned above, Beverly Hills Al Rayyan, we chose this compound for various reasons - it is large compound with huge pool, childrens pool, small shop and 'club house', also it is close to my little boys school, Compass, and it is out of the main city, traffic can be a nightmare, depending on how confident you are. This compound is not too far from Park House, and you have a good chance of getting an apartment or villa as they have just finished phase 2, which is where we are moving into.

Other compounds you could try are -Beverley Hills Gardens 1, 2, & 3. Obviously that depends on availability. I would also contact Country Connections to look on your behalf, instead of a Estate Agent. Country Connections do charge, not sure what, but they will only look for the type of property you request, not anything that becomes available, like an agent, or that is my experience anyway.

Send me an e-mail here if i can be of any other help, as a newbie I am just experiencing stuff.

Thanks so much for all your help. Everyone! We have a confirmed place at Park House and will hear about DESS in March.

I need to find a good map but so many of them dont have the most recent developments...and the dont really mean anything to me at the moment!

Where you live will almost certainly depend on where your kids go to school. You want to spend the LEAST amount of time as possible in traffic, believe me. Park House and DESS are at opposite sides of the city, so once you have got places in school (not an easy thing here BTW!) then you can start to look at suitable compounds

Try Beverly Hills Compounds or Alfardan Garden Compounds. There is a new Beverly Hills Compound in Al Rayyan. This is somewhat close to DESS and their are still villas available. Check on gulf-times.com classifieds!

Villas in Alfardan Garden can be rented through the owner, which is Alfardan Group. http://www.alfardanrealestate.com/

Good luck!

Oh, my goodness, dear, this is a big city with dozens of neighborhoods and hundreds if not thousands of housing choices. Let me just say that wherever you DO decide to live, it will be inconvenient to something. You will probably want to triangulate on school and work and shopping and then look in in concentric circles from there. Try Google Earth and the classifieds in the Gulf Times.

Thanks - Where are the villas? Trying to live somewhere where can send children to school & nursery and not spend all day in car!
