Nice topic, brandylady. Wish I'd caught it earlier.

When I was young I tried futilely to tan, but all I ever got were bad sunburns, which we now know put us at risk for skin cancer. Over the years, I've learned to accept my ivory skin. Don't wanna change it.

Looking in the mirror, heck yeah, there are lots of things I WISH were different! Spent years doing the weight gain/loss thing (large amts).

When I finally started looking inside myself, that's when I was able to finally learn to take care of me, keep the weight off and incorporate exercise into my life.

So even though my body has been through the wringer, and is sooo far from "perfect", I know I'm healthier than I've ever been and that's what matters to me now.

If there's one thing I'd like to change, I would like to be more outgoing, less shy.

its true...other do..its your character that shows in those. Case in point...I absolutely HATE the skin under my chin(always have had it even when I was basically skin and bones)...have talked with hubby about having it taken up a bit, but his response??? No way!! He says he loves that little bit that I hate so much...

Take a look at what facial expressions make the creases in your face..I'm betting its smiling...or perhaps squinting from the sun(ok so you are in Switzerland and it rains a lot!)...then rethink...if you have wrinkles because you smile, then you've been one blessed person. If its because you have been frowning...then re-adjust your way of thinking and try to be more positive about life with its ups and downs.

its all in how you look at driving. Grew up in Houston traffic, so learned to make the most of it...Make faces at people, wave, smile, especially at the kiddos in the backseat...after they get over the shock, they get the biggest grin on their face!!

However...I have to learn not to smile at everyone, as I had a guy follow me all the way from the restaurant last night to the front gate of my villa, which is totally across the other side of town. One of these days I will learn to balance friendliness with driving...sighhh...

swiss - just take a step back and look at all the positive things about yourself...and I mean ALL of them. Some of the things that you actually think are negatives are to other people, positives. Try and stop picking yourself apart because what you see ISN'T what others see. We are always hardest on ourselves.

Brandylady - yeah...I'm used to working out, I've always worked out, so now just stepping it up a bit. On the food issue, I have to stop eating at gatherings and work events. Dang, you folks can cook!!!

Ksa...I can say without reservation that those words came straight from my heart. Used to get upset over wrinkles or one or two pounds that creeped up on my behind while I wasn't looking..but, you know what?? Life is too short to worry about insignificant things like that. It should be enjoyed to the fullest and as long as you are healthy and your family is healthy and happy, then life is good.

After getting a shower and putting on the makeup...standing back thinking..ok..things aren't too bad...then I put in my contacts..wooo hoo..where in the heck did THOSE wrinkles come from??? Oh well...what we all have to remember is we all earned each and every wrinkle, smile and laugh line and that is your life that shows on your face..so enjoy and have great memories...

What I would change if I could is my dumb thyroid...its out of whack for the past 6 months and getting it leveled out is a tough one..added 15 pounds due to that. So...its continueing to work out, and watch what I eat(which it hard since I love Middle Eastern food!) and hopefully things will get back to normal for me.

How did last night go???

Well I start to change I little bit, When I came last year in doha I gain 15 kilos in 4 months, now 12 of them are already gone.. so I still need to work out a little.

But My temper its another issue, I have become racist because all the people at work are racist... I cant support this.

I smile and have a good sense of fun so yes, maybe there are some things others see in me that maybe I miss because I get along really well with people.

We are all too hard on ourselves. I bet you had some feature that was radiant and beautiful Brandylady... but perhaps you overlooked it when seeing features you want to improve.

The way we see ourselves in the mirror is not the way others see us... if you have a wonderful personality and a good sense of humour, people look at you with delight and are always pleased to see you... we don't allow the mirror the same luxury.
