1. Kanan Gill special ‘Teetar’ - Live in Qatar 2019

After a series of sold-out shows, one of India’s most followed comedians, Kanan Gill is coming to Doha with his stand-up special ‘TEETAR’ on February 21!

The Desi Laughter Nights 2019 is hosted by Millennium Entertainment.  

Kanan Gill rose to fame with the YouTube series, ‘Pretentious Movie Reviews’ where he reviews flawed yesteryear Bollywood films in a hilarious manner.

Gill’s latest special, ‘Teetar’ is a personal, observational and deeply stupid follow up to 2017’s ‘Keep It Real’. In this hilarious one-hour show he juggles ideas from Julius Caesar’s death to marching to bands and his building societies. The show will also explain what ‘Teetar’ means.

There will be a series of exciting and entertaining comics from India. A three-hour laugh-A-thon that is sure to keep your funny bone tickling. So gear up as Desi Laughter Nights 2019 is just around the corner!

2. Biryani Festival 2019

Dates: February 20 to March 2

Timings: 04:00 pm to 12:00 am

Where: Al Bidda Park

Entry: Entry free for all.

The one dish that everyone unanimously loves indulging in is the mouth-watering Biryani. So foodies, get ready to tantalize your taste buds as the Biryani Festival is back with its second edition.

The flavorful festival is set to take place over a period of eleven days with the fragrance of biryani will lingering in the air.

Visitors will be able to taste and appreciate more than 100 types of distinct Biryanis. Some of the well-known favorites will be present including, but not limited to, mughlai, lucknow gosht, kashmiri vegetable, mussels, prawns, hara macchi, egg, harkmas (beef), malabar chicken, mattanjery chicken, kayikka’s beef, thalassery mutton, the traditional Afghani and Irani. 

Do keep some cold drinks handy as those seeking a more spicy experience may find their palates on fire.

3. Tarsheed Carnival 2019

Dates: February 19 to February 28

Timings: 08:00 am to 12 pm and 04:00 pm to 09:00 pm

Where: Kahramaa Awareness Park

Entry: Entry free for all.

The ongoing Tarsheed Carnival will run until February 28 at Kahramaa Awareness Park.

Organized by the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), the Festival aims to raise awareness on water and electricity consumption in a rational manner in order to achieve water and electric sustainability. The ambition of the carnival is to increase community participation in the goals of rationalization while educating future generations about the wise use of water and electric resources.

The carnival will feature numerous activities for children, including game booths, painting, rides and others and will also offer a wide range of gastronomies. It will also include awareness activities for children for public and private school students.

4. Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2019

Dates: February 20 to February 25

Timings: February 20: 3pm- 10pm, February 21: 12pm - 10pm, February 22: 4pm - 10 pm, February 23-25: 12pm - 10pm

Where: Doha Exhibition and Convention Center

Entry: Entry free for all.

Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2019 invites you on a voyage to the very heart of a glitzy tale in which exclusivity, beauty, art, legacy and unique craftsmanship strive to tell the precious story behind each jewel!

The 16th edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2019 opened its doors to visitors on February 20, and will go until February 25, 2019.

More than 400 global luxury brands are going to showcase their finest works, special editions and exclusive pieces, combined with the most talented emerging local jewellery designers.

The gorgeous event will allow attendees to share their passion and will encourage knowledge-sharing from budding and recognized international and local designers.

5. Father and Son Race

Dates: February 20

Timings: 06:00 pm to 08:30 pm

Where: Lusail International Circuit

The first bicycle event organized to assemble grandfather, father and kids. The aim of this event is to spread the culture of bicycle and encourage family members to sport together. It also enhances the spirit of love and family bonding. The event also focuses on achieving the fundamental goal of Qatar Vision 2030.

6. Desert Moon Drum Circle

Dates: February 22

Timings: 04:30 pm to 09:00 pm

Where: Dukhan Umm Bab

Entry: QAR 100 per person and QAR 50 for children (below 12 years old)

Celebrate Super Moon by drumming on the beach at Dukhan.

There is no previous experience required to enjoy the event, all you need to do is to relax to the beats of the drums!

Drums and percussion are provided by Drumming Qatar. A special version of the popular rhythm ‘Fankani’ will be played along with other catchy African djembe rhythms for the ‘Desert Moon’.

Drummers will end the evening with a high energy “jam session” where everyone is encouraged to play and dance along!

Water, beach mats, barbeque fire will be provided. You can bring in food and beverages, camp chairs, beach blankets and spirit to live it up!

7. Torba Farmers Market

Dates: runs until April 2019

Timings: 7.30am - 11.30am and from 12.30pm - 5pm on Fridays and 8am - 6pm on Saturdays.

Where: Education City

Entry: Entry free for all

Torba farmers market takes place at Qatar Foundation’s Ceremonial Court every Fridays and Saturdays.

The name ‘Torba’ is derived from Arabic, and means “the pure soil that feeds, nourishes, and nurtures.” A wide-range of fresh, locally-grown items being offered in the market.

Visitors will find organic fruits and vegetables, homemade preserves, syrups, and butters, as well as handicrafts and gardening supplies. There are freshly made juices and varieties of delicious local dishes to try on.

The market has succeeded in enhancing awareness of the way in which farm produce is grown, sold, and consumed in Qatar.The aim of the market is to promote organic, homegrown produce in a bid to create healthier, more active communities.

Qatar will see one of the most magical evenings ever on Friday, March 1, 2019, as the first-ever concert bringing together Bollywood’s Sultans of Swag, Vishal and Shekhar and Qatar’s Grammy-nominee Fahad Al Kubaisi, to be styled by Indian fashion maestro Manish Malhotra, will ignite the stage!

Presented by FAB Entertainment, this début performance epitomizes the India-Qatar Year of Culture as the three vocalists gear up to enthrall the Doha audience at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena in Al Sadd.

Vishal Dadlani is a singer and vocalist of the electronic band Pentagram, and Shekhar Ravjiani is a trained classical singer. Vishal is also a judge of the globally acclaimed music talent show, Indian Idol and Shekhar of Sa Re Ga Ma.

The duo composed more than 250 songs featuring super-hit albums like 'Tiger Zinda Hai', 'Befikre', 'Ra.One' and 'Sultan'. Their biggest hit 'Swag Se Swagat' became the world's fastest song to hit 100 million views before going on to touch 650 million within a year.

Fahad Al Kubaisi is a Qatari singer, record producer, fashion model and human rights activist. Fahad will be collaborating with Vishal & Shekhar for a special performance and will be styled by Indian fashion guru, Manish Malhotra who is one of the most admired celebrity stylists in Bollywood.
