well, the 10 mb is much better.i too am using the 10mb connection for 300 riyals. it works but as said we cant get the full download speed of 6 mb or 4mb. only the surfing experience just got better.

i guess it relates to the download servers.

What you want might to look at is a repeater to place in the middle of your stairs. it will catch the wifi signal from your router and extend it to upstairs.

I have the fibre optic cable on the main floor, and a router on the second floor of my villa. However, the wireless signal is very weak. Can I add a second router to the top floor?

Also I have heard the junction box can act as a wireless router but Ooredoo tech said he's not allowed to enable it. Does anyone know how to enable it?

As it stands right now I can only get workable Wireless on the second floor. The main floor and top floor are dead zones.

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I am moving to a fiber connected area (it was actually one of the criteria for my move) and I plan to subscribe to 50mb! Can someone tell me if he is really geeting 50mb of speed, and how much for upload?

Even if the price is ridiculous at 50mb, I can't wait enjoying internet again like i used to do back home and even better.

To download a file fast, many conditions must exist. Fast connection is only one of them. Many online storage services simply "choke" their server speeds on free users. Speedtest sites floods the connection with unlimited amount of data to see how much the connection pipe can take.

Hi,

Though speedtest.qa showing almost similar figures as translator; but overall experience is bad.

Many websites even google / youtube is not as fast as it was used to be,

I tried downloading files e.g. pdf from common weblinks or drop box .. again very slow.

can anyone share how do you experience the difference between 1Mbps or 10Mbps .. except for this speedtest.qa score, I can't really tell the difference.

My Area is supposedly in the centre of Doha and it's not even highlighted on their map. I went ahead and decided to pay for the 4Mbps on normal ADSL for now.

No installation charge for upgrade to 10, it took a 5 minutes call, and new speed turned on 30 minutes later.

The utorrent was downloading at 1Mb/s around 1 AM time, with my 10Mbps package.

They upgraded the line free, with additional Linksys wireless router for my second floor, model EA4500. So there is the wireless fibre optics modem for the lower floor and the Linksys for the upper floor. The Mosaic TV have new device with 350 GB for recording of TV shows, and a nice profile manager to select only the channels you want.

The availability map can be seen here, http://www.qtel.qa/en/qodp_portal_consumer_detail?detailId=DP_FTTX_AVAILABILITY_EN§ion=consumer&lang=en
