Schooling

We are a British family moving out to Doha this month. We are experiencing problems getting a place for our son in the British Primary Schools. Is anyone else having this problem? What are the realistic waiting times as I am reluctant to keep my son out of schooling for any length of time. Is there any Home tuition services?
Any advice would be appreciated

Hi Chrissy, just wanna tell you that I faced the same problem when I came to Doha 1 month back , really i passed a very hard time trying to find a school for my 5 yrs old duaghter. All well known british school, were offering me nothing but opology that they can not accept my kid "even on a waiting list" because they are full . seems that as per the education supreme council rules class capacity should not exceed 25 student or so. only one school that asked me about my nationality "which is not British" saying that british nationalities are given the priorty in the "waiting list". it depend on the age of your kid , may be he is more lucky than mine... I advise you to refer to the British embassy, they may help you in that. My embassy offerd to help but only for Egyptian circulam school , which was not my desire at all as my kid following the british one in Egypt.
finaly I had no option but to accept an american school "only one with vaccant places" in spite that i did not like it a lot .. and i am intending to shift her next year to a british school.
I ve been told from many schools that April is the month were parents must apply for thier kids.
I hope that gives you a clear picture from a guy who is just one month in Doha
