Hi WE ARE PLANING TO MOVE FRON BAHRAIN TO QATAR AND OUR 4YRS OLD SON HAS GOT FROM OF AUTISM NEED A SPECAIL SCHOOL IN ENGLISH CAN ANY BODY TELL US IF ANY IN QATAR
i am an educational consultant, and a mother of a child with specail needs, based in doha.
At age 4:
we need to develop what we call a home based program, where this child will have a room at home, and start learning small tasks.
The school is a place where this child should go to learn socail skills, since it will be very difficult for this child to learn in a class room with 25, so taking him to school at age 4 full time might not be the right thing to do.
I have been helping parents develop the home based program and training ( nanny- teacher-Mother) on implementing the programs.
any nursery can take him if you are sending some one to support your child in class, this could be the mom or the nanny or any teacher you pay.
I am a speech therapist living abroad and am considering a move to Qatar but have no idea where to begin looking. I read your post about knowing some SLT's over there, I would appreciate it if you could pass on their numbers so I could contact them to ask about possible opportunities.
slps are healthcare professionals who deal with problems related to speech, language and hearing. They assess, diagnose and treat cases who exhibit speech and language problems across any age group i.e. pediatric, adult or geriatric patients. You can find them in various settings such as hospitals, schools, special needs centres, day cares, clinical settings etc.
Qatar is not a place to bring a child who has any kind of learning or developmental problem, it's difficult enough to find a school place for a "normal" child.
Qatar's winter months are brimming with unmissable experiences, from the AFC Asian Cup 2023 to the World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024 and a variety of outdoor adventures and cultural delights.

Squarepeg is right. Qatar is definately not the place for your son. You are not going to get the kind of resources that you may require easily.
