New Salata Park - our little adventure

WE wanted to spend the Friday afternoon in a little quiet park near New Salata roundabout .Everything was fine until some local little kids started to spray around with this shaving foam which seems to be a kind of accepted entertainment here . So they were spraying everywhere and on everybody . When it was our turn to be sprayed I told to the little guy very kindly to go away far from us and from other kids and spray there .

Soon after came a local little girl yelling at me : This is not your child . Why you tell him to go away .

Then came a woman in black abaya who seemed to be an illegal vendor of Egyptian origin( she was selling drinks and chips from some plastic bags an d most probably shaving foam ).She made a big fuss around us . How do I dare to tell this child to go away . This is his country - he is free to play and spray ... I let my husband negotiate this thing , he nicely was explaining in Arabic about pollution , keeping our parks clean and the danger of chemicals for little kids- but the woman started to be more and more aggressive . She started to play the religious police " who is this woman with you - your wife ? why she does not understand well Arabic ? bla bla bla... even she called the security guard to emphasize how the matter was serious ... the security guard did not say a word just was terribly embarrassed . At some points she started to shout in a crazy way "we can not accept that a Christian woman would tell our kids where they can play " WEll , our Friday afternoon was spoiled we decided to leave .
After a little investigation we learned that this woman in black abaya who looked like an illegal vendor in fact has an office in the park - she is employed by the municipality and she disturbs nearly every day some expat looking family daring to enter this small public park ...
Like things were just turning worse around here .. .

I do not understand these people . why do they let their kids do so .what kind of freedom is that ? they are free to bother expats . then what about the danger of chemicals for their kids...

Ahhhh we had the foam party string on sale on the compound.... and the shop is opposite my house

Well everything got covered plants, windows, cars, walls, road.....

I asked them not to sell it same aggressive response - some of us stopped shopping there and they stopped selling it

the religion card is used as stick to bully with and it shouldn't be

Thank you all for your support . This is a lovely park and in the early afternoons there is almost nobody - so one can feel as having a private park .

We spent there some nice days with sweet memories . I remember last year some mums club made there Easter egg hunting there for their kids and it was just fun to see them with those lots of flowers around .

We were even planning to move to the area -as this little park was so attractive and within walking distance .

But now I am rethinking the plans of moving and I am excluding some areas ... for fears of being treated as a "christian" ..

Such idiots do the shameful acts & then the blame goes to religion.

You should'nt have left the place before calling the Police and giving her a tough time. This is the reason why the locals keep on bullying expatriates...we let them do it by not responding the same way.

I just felt sorry that I let my husband negotiate . He was too nice . I would have taken the things harder .I was not afraid from her -just I felt terrible that the security guard does not tell her - go back where you came from . He thought was not allowed . In fact he apologized later for this incident .

She could not do a damn thing to you, even if she calls the police..which she will not do anyway..but i guess you did the wise thing, by walking away from an argument with the idiotic b@%$*...it was not worth it..

So did my husband - smiling nicely was talking to her and really it made her more and more aggressive ...

We felt we were chased away ...of course nobody told us that we were to leave but somehow the atmosphere was not relaxing at all ....
