Live-in house maid

Seek advise / info; We are from Mumbai, India and are about to shift in 20 days to Doha. We have a live-in maid with us and want to take her with us. someone from Doha yesterday informed that Indians are not allowed to take Indian maids with them - is this true? Our youngest is quite attached to this woman and in a new country it would be comforting top have her with us - is there some way we can take her with us?

Hi Banker,

I am from Orissa, India and moving to Doha. I would also like to

bring my baby caretaker with us to Doha. She is also an Indian.

I would really appreciate, if you can advise me in this regard.

Thanks in advance,

Vinita

Would appreciate any advise on how to bring a live-in maid into Doha. We may be moving to Doha from Dubai and would like to bring our Indonesian live in domestic helper, who's currently on my husband's sponsorship. We're a family of six on British Passports. Are there any taxes or levies and if so how much? Many thanks

As far as i know , you are not allowed to sponsor or get a maid of your same nationality. So basically since your an Indian , as per the present rules you will not be able to get an indian maid under your sponsorship. But you are allowed to sponsor a maid from a different nationality other than yours and i believe there a certain conditions like your salary has to be above a certain amount.

Thanks Helloqatar for your inouts, but I am unclear - do you mean they can sponsor the maid too - that would be employing her by my employer, or did you mean they need to give some permission for me to be able to sponsor the maid? Pls. advise

Regards
