Hi, does anyone know where I could buy Linseeds? My daughter is a bit constipated at the moment and I heard these can help. Also, if anyone has any remedies for constipation (she's 3 years old) I would love to hear them. Sorry I know this isnt a particularly nice topic of conversation. Thanks
i feed my daughter ripe papaya regularly as she has the same problem every now and then and it does help. i used to buy them at q-mart but they seem to rot quickly (i don't know why). i suggest buying them from lulu hypermarket as they seem to be better quality. weetabix is also a high fiber food so u can try that too.
Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your remedies. I will nip down to MegaMart for the Linseeds (thanks diamondgirl) and will start her on weetabix for breakfast. Thankfully she doesnt mind the taste of prune juice which is a minor miracle believe me!!! I really want to try a tackle this the natural way if I can but sometimes you just run out of ideas - so thanks again for all of yours
If your child is becoming consitpated you may want to start adding more fibre and plenty of water to his/her diet. Fiber would be in the form of salads, beans and lentils (try it in soup), and oatmeal and brown rice/cous cous. I try to stay away from wheat as much as possible for my kids because everything is laden with too much wheat and they can develop an intolerance.
also go to the pharmacist and ask for some syrup called lactulose. You may need your gp prescription but this can be given to children for a quick relief. although don't give them too much because it will come out like too soft if you know what I mean.
a teaspoon of bran daily is recommended to avoid constipation, pears/ natural pear juice and of course prune juice (if you can get a 3yo to like the taste...glycerine suppositries are effective (however from experience its hard performing them on 3yo...and they are a short term solution....weetbix/pear /prune juice for breaky every day will help keep them regular...
Whole fruits contain much more fibre than just juice, so offer oranges, kiwi, pinapple. Weatabix for breakfast is excellent too. Plus lots of water of course.
Dupholac is safe but not to be used on a regular basis, best to solve problem with dietary changes.
Let her do it in natural way. Let her drink plenty of citrus fruit juices and water. Don't be used of relieving her with suppositories, use once and after that let her drink plenty of water and juice every meal. Chocolate is the no. 1 culprit .

hi , you could try making her drink cold milk 1st thing in the morning ,or cold orange juice with her breakfast or you could try glycerine suppositories for children it is magical in such conditions
Can you get syrup of figs here? Have been keeping my eye out for things I could give her but havent had a lot of luck. Cant get Senokot here (not sure why) so I've just tried prune juice, fruit veg.

Organic linseeds are available from Megamart at The Centre. I bought some there yesterday.
Plenty of water...juices containing vitamin C.
Linseeds can be addded to a fruit smoothie to make them more 'fun' (and less noticeable!) to ingest.

Get some prune juices and let her drink plenty of water.
glyvcerine suppositeries r the best, also try giving oats as fibre content is more in that. prune juice is effective as well.
