Leftovers?
This question is probably going to be best for the Indian ladies. I find myself with a lot of leftover cucumber raita. Short of serving it on the side of rice and curry, does anyone have any suggestions of what to do with it?
I seem to have over estimated the quantity required for last night's iftar and now there is WAY too much for me to eat by myself!
The reason you don't quite remember having me as desert is because I have that intoxicating effect on women ;-))
And thinking that this topic started with Raita....!!! ;)
ghazalz, not only spicy but, sweet also... :)

Alumnar: there really isn't that much left over except for the raita. Why did I make so very much of it??
I'll have the leftovers epi!!!! Please??? :)))
Ohhh tcom.... Byriani.... Yum yum!!!!!
jack likes every thing.... am i right jackie ;)
Does WK not eat? Thanks for the tip, saadm80. Jack? You like lamb?
epi: you expect wk to eat this much of food, it is better to call jack... ;)
WK: I've got leftover lamb, raita and baklava. There might also be a slice or two of banana bread as well. Is that worthy of candles?
Also, how much raita can you eat in one sitting?
Not alone.. If she invites me over for dinner then the way I see it, there will be two of us ;o)
candle light dinner alone.... interesting
Naah I don't like parties.. I am more into candle light dinner situations ;o)
wk is always ready for a party... ;)
The best thing to do with the leftover is invite me for dinner tonight :P

Epi, you could have come to us before hosting a dinner party for your co-workers..:))
We could have given you some wonderful tips..
Yum! I think next time I'll try an all Indian iftar. Last night I tried to impress my coworkers and went all out international. I think I may have misread the audience.
don't make me more hungry.... :(
Def not in Doha, Unless u know a Maharashtrian family...
In Bombay, u need to check at Maharashtracha Diva at Mahim... authentic Maharashtrian food!!
Speedy, i have never tried CHICKEN VADAS...where to get in mumbai or doha??
Alumnar, my mouth is really watering now to try for BIRYANI today...:)
Great minds think alike..
and btw, hope u enjoying pakoras in the rain... I hear its poooouuurrrriiing!!!
feeling really hungry..... ;)
Arrey speedy, exactly my thought..:D
Alumnar, yup even we INDIANs have limited or few likings for best restaurants that serves best indian cuisines..And to talk about DOHA, well better not to say further..:))
The worst part is, everyone tries o open an Indian cuisine restaraunt without paying attention to food taste and quality... The spices used in food in Qatar are nowhere as close to traditional preparations... I can just not imagine having the best 'Misal Pao' or ' Chicken Vadas' here...they're all best had back home!
Exactly my point... Indian cuisine is so varied and vast.. Lotsa dishes I haven't heard of, which I heard recntly...
Indian dishes do very well except for one dish soniya - fish and chips! ;)
Not all indian restaurants are nice though. We have tried a few crappy ones before we found a really good one. But that is the same with every food and in every country :)
speedy, i have not explored other corners of the world where indian recipies have foot their marks..:)
Though i have heard it from my friends who are based in US and UK, that indian dishes do better market than the locals..hehehe
Thanks epicurean, I shall try that recipe :)
Alumnar: it's not really MY recipe. I picked up an Indian cookbook at Jarir. The raita is whole cream yogurt, diced cucumber (I grated mine), salt, black pepper, cumin powder, cilantro (coriander leaves) and a pinch of chili powder. Also I added a bit of water to thin it out.
Sid: who puts mayo in salad???
Indian Food is one of the most popular meals in the UK dear :)
Hubby introduced me to Indian food and now there is no going back ;)
There is a wonderful Indian restaurant in my country / city and every year, when we go back on holiday, I pre-book us in for our second day home. From prawn and chana puri to Jalfrezi, Tikka Masala and Vindaloo (for hubby only, too spicy for me!). Peshwari naan (with coconut) and and and....
Enough! LOL.. :)
Where has Indian food NOT reached? :P
Ah, so u know about NAAN and DAAL too..great!
So our indian foods have entered your region too....:)))
I can bear medium spicy soniya, but hubby can bear as hot as it gets!!!
My mouth is watering now... I really would eat some onion bhaji, daal and nan now!!!
Ah gals, i am glad to hear that.....
No merci, even i love sweet lassi...
Alumnar, yes BIRYANIs are yummy...so can you bear the spicy indian food???
Soniya I LOVE it! Specially with Biryani. Hubby and I LOVE Indian food :)
soniya, for me it is the sweet one. Really yummie!
nomerci, really?? sweet or the salty one??
one of my fave things in the Indian cuisine...just like Lassi.
Alumnar, do you really know about RAITA?? I thought only INDIAN ladies know about it...:))
Hi epicurean, can you give me the recipee for your raita? I love it - on almost anything :) Thank you.
Use it as a marinade if you're cooking some kind of meat. Just add other spices to it.
If u plan to have salad today, use it instead of Mayo...
or,
If u have any leftover veg cutlets/chk cutlets or something similair, wrap them around a kaboos and use the raita as a filling...
you should have given your guests raita doggie-bags :-P
Check out from the links below to use the LEFTOVER cucumber raita in other ways...Personally i don't like it..:))
