Leftovers?

epicurean
By epicurean

This question is probably going to be best for the Indian ladies. I find myself with a lot of leftover cucumber raita. Short of serving it on the side of rice and curry, does anyone have any suggestions of what to do with it?

I seem to have over estimated the quantity required for last night's iftar and now there is WAY too much for me to eat by myself!

The worst part is, everyone tries o open an Indian cuisine restaraunt without paying attention to food taste and quality... The spices used in food in Qatar are nowhere as close to traditional preparations... I can just not imagine having the best 'Misal Pao' or ' Chicken Vadas' here...they're all best had back home!

By Speedysid• 31 Aug 2010 16:55

Exactly my point... Indian cuisine is so varied and vast.. Lotsa dishes I haven't heard of, which I heard recntly...

Indian dishes do very well except for one dish soniya - fish and chips! ;)

Not all indian restaurants are nice though. We have tried a few crappy ones before we found a really good one. But that is the same with every food and in every country :)

speedy, i have not explored other corners of the world where indian recipies have foot their marks..:)

Though i have heard it from my friends who are based in US and UK, that indian dishes do better market than the locals..hehehe

Alumnar: it's not really MY recipe. I picked up an Indian cookbook at Jarir. The raita is whole cream yogurt, diced cucumber (I grated mine), salt, black pepper, cumin powder, cilantro (coriander leaves) and a pinch of chili powder. Also I added a bit of water to thin it out.

Sid: who puts mayo in salad???

Indian Food is one of the most popular meals in the UK dear :)

Hubby introduced me to Indian food and now there is no going back ;)

There is a wonderful Indian restaurant in my country / city and every year, when we go back on holiday, I pre-book us in for our second day home. From prawn and chana puri to Jalfrezi, Tikka Masala and Vindaloo (for hubby only, too spicy for me!). Peshwari naan (with coconut) and and and....

Enough! LOL.. :)

If u plan to have salad today, use it instead of Mayo...

or,

If u have any leftover veg cutlets/chk cutlets or something similair, wrap them around a kaboos and use the raita as a filling...
