How do I...

My husband is over in Qatar now and I am in the states, he tried calling about a week ago but the connection was real bad. So I have not talk to him since he left on Aug 1. How do I go about finding him and getting a message to him? I think if he could go on line we would be able to get in touch with each other and he could tell me what is going on with getting me over there. What to do?

Without Qatari ID but with copy of passport you can get yourself a cell phone in Qtel.

You could always try contacting your embassy to make sure he is alright. They should have his local information and be able to help you. Good luck, this is a very difficult situation.

Celsayed ..unless he gets a Qatar-ID ...he cannot have a phone no other than his Office no. or his friends no. both of which he might not want to give due to the inconveinence it might put to others.

But if he knows your no. he could use the pay phone to call you & keep you updated. The rates to call USA is not too high to keep him from calling. And the line connection could be bad only if his is calling from a mobile and that too when he is far away from the cell-site.

If you could give his previous work-experience (eg Teacher, Engineer, IT, etc or his field - oil/gas, education, etc) may be we could give you options of where he might be employed if he is working for the Govt.

Keep us informed about any developments.

I was able to contact my family and friends in 2-3 hours after I left toronto (thanks Lufthansa Airlines! - they have free internet on board).. for few hours i was chatting while flying...And then next day I sent e-mails back home already from my office...

...does he work somewhere? does his company have communication tools like telephone, internet, even fax like DaRuDe mentioned (this is also the option, when others are not working! LOL).. but to blame on "bad connection"?

... I would understand "extremely expencive telecommunication".. but "bad connection"???

He does not know my e-mail and I know that the communications there is very modern, but when he called the last time the connection was bad. No I do not know what area of the gov't. I did not know he was leavingg until the night before.

I think there's really no reason why he hasn't been able to contact you. He could use a friend's cell or land-line, send you an email, get a friend to send an email, etc. Communication is very modern here. You must know what area of the gov't he's working with?

If you have a copy of his contract, where you live, or if you can track his printouts or emails, you can get the exact name of the institution he works for, within the Government of Qatar.

Also, if you like to provide me with his passport number and nationality to make it easier, I can give a call and check his whereabouts.

Please PM me, if that will make you feel more comfortable. (Releasing personal info publicly is not advisable, generally). Nevertheless, most of the members here would like to help.

Let me know

Peace

Ok, I was thinking the samething, but he left the night after he found out he was going so we did not have time to get numbers.

Strange to say the least.

Where does he work ?

What does he look like ?

So we can hire our local spying crew...

Did you try sending him an email at least to alert him ?

Call his company and ask for him (Assuming you already know where he'd be working)

We can provide you at least with the number of the company. If you don't have it you can search in Google for it. (Make sure you search for "COMPANYNAME 974")

Good luck.
