Just a remider of how much patience I will need here. Staying at Ezdan. And after coming home now... no hot water in the shower. But in the kitchen there is!!!! - God helps us with the labour used for this building -

Well, waiting for THE ENGINEERS...to try and fix it. Do I ahve ANY hope it will work any time soon???????

sometimes I forget what a weird place qatar is... anywhere else this would sound more like a joke than an actual serviced apartment building.

really...i begin to think my salary is not good enough to out up living here. I thougth I was being way well paid... but I guess I am wrong.

Did you ever read Catch 22? If so, I would point you to the character named "Major Major"..

In order for you to make a complaint, you would have to ensure that the Manager was avaiable. This would be an impossibility at Ezdan, since they probably only exist on paper, or only come in through a secret entrance to shout at the underlings and collect their pay checks..

By carol2008• 16 Dec 2008 15:32
carol2008

Just under 9,000 for a studio flat.

Hey, I like the idea of residents getting together for a joint complaint... is it a serious idea???? I am ALL for it!

there is no way to negotiate anything with these useless Ezdan managers.. at one stage i was so pissed off by their inaction that i went to the first floor and stormed the general manager's office so he was forced to face the music!

problem is, he just managed to buy time by telling me he would address my issue and than had his secretary call me and say they couldn't do anything for me, thank you very much :(

how about a "class action"? i think a collective complain may be the only way to put some pressure on them

I wonder if any Ezdan Management type would care to comment !!!

By carol2008• 16 Dec 2008 09:25
carol2008

or they are "on break"... it happened to me. I asked for the duty manager... "on break"...then I asked for the house keeping manager ...also "on break"... then I asked for the general manager and guess... "also on break".

2 conclusions... more chiefs than indians and the chiefs only take breaks in groups...and also... no one was allowed to inform their numbers... you know BIG security measures in this place!!!

by the way, the other day the fire alarm - that goes on every second day for a little while - went on for a while... picked up my bag and when I got to the stairs I could only pray for a false alarm.. has anyone seen how the emergency stairs are in this place???? Is it my impression or they really seem about to colpse if more than 1 person uses them at once?????????

by the way after a couple of minutes with the alarm on and we were finally in the lobby... with other lucky residents... NO ONE had the courtesy to come and let us know it was a false alarm, to say they were sorry for it and we could go back to the room...

By britexpat• 16 Dec 2008 06:30
britexpat

A colleague lives in Ezdan and he was pissed off yesterday.. He wanted to talk to the "security manager", but no one would let him.. It is nigh on impossible to talk to anyone in position of power. All you can do is argue with the lackeys at the desk..

Must be a great job - "Yes Sir, we have a security manager, but I can't divulge his details or contact number - Its a secret"

Thanks Carol... I heard Alreen towers was opening late this year could be an alternative if you want to stay in the local. Most things in that area are expensive. Good luck.

I think living in the same area as so many other people and having cleaners of dubious cleanliness coming in at random times was the worst thing especially having got used to privacy.

Hey all, was just cruising through your comments and i feel with you guys... but i got the news that tops them all...Ever had to wake in Ezdan and the first thing you do before opening your eyes is vomit!!? hehe... The gypsum board in Tower Three not only makes you feel that you're living with your neighbour in the same room, but also you can smell every little thing your neighbour has to cook on a Friday morning, like for example, and i mean this literally: Dog Meat!!

Thank you all and hope you enjoyed your stay at Esdan Towers, make sure you don't come back again!

Hey james... congrats! we are also looking for a place now. Really... you should come for a visit to the unspeakable singaporean restaurant they opened replacing a perfectly good coffee shop... it is unbelievable...when you think you have seen it all...these people come up with something even worse.

the "restaurant" smells like food that has gone off. a huge industrial kitchen to cook some ... well... food. nobody is going there. second restaurant they open at ezdan super super complex...and second disaster.

as someone told me once... over here...never expect an upgrade on services... but quite a few downgrades.

After 3 months, we escaped!!! Visited it last week and the receptionist said that we must miss it!!!! Yes - I said as it is so close to work. Could not think of much else. Can't say I miss he Gymn or pool that much. Never forget the useless "Mr Twitcher" (he can't speak but constantly twitching his meagre shoulders) in the Gymn. He liked to point out the notice that says that the running machine was not for stretching when I briefly stop and stretch my old legs or the loads of local visitors smoking whilst actually being in the pool...

Not to mention the limitless stories such as the housekeeping going through your clothes to look for any white towels and then complaining that any towels they may find are not white enough cos you have not cleaned them properly - even though they were not their's at all!

Now we have 3 bedrooms instead of 1 and pay 4k a month less - shame as have to drive 10 minutes on quiet roads to get to work but it is worth it.

The engineers are an insult to the term engineer as they know nothing about anything except how to bodge a job so that it will need to be done again within a few weeks.

So long Ezdan - It is certainly a landmark to remember - like alcatraz for those on a long term contract.

Hi boo0221... havent found another place yet. And to be honest, after few phone calls... I have realised that the poor quality of staff and service is not just at Ezdan, but it seems to be a Doha trade mark.

The gym and pool here are very good. I dont trust their cleaning services. So I end up cleaning myself but at least i dont need to get bed linen and towels.

all in all... dont believe there are many really good options out there. the poor - or none - training of the staff seems to be just how it is over here in Doha.

Carol, welcome to Qatar :-D

...relax...they will fix it "soon, Inshallah", lol

As for patience, well, we never really knew what that was before we came here, did we....

Who said treat it as a hiccup? Ah yes, the always level-headed Brit. But he's right. This is small stuff. I live in a well-established reputable compound and I can't begin to count the number of times we've been with NO water at all, hot, cold, or otherwise. Nor can I count the number of excuses!

Frustrating as hell, yes, but just keep repeating the mantra: We're not in Kansas anymore.... :-)

they told me in twin towers that i can sign a rent contract now and make it start at 15th November and same time i can move the moment its ready without having to pay extra for days i move befor 15th, means if it got ready on 10th or befor i can move there and dont pay for 5 days extra and its a pretty good apartments there 2 and 3 bedrooms with free internet connection and swimming pool and 2 gym 1 for women and 1 for men.

in fact am thinking to make a contract soon.

yes carol i never had been rude shouting or so but when i saw its working i had to do it and hope to find another better place and in fact i found a place called: twin towers nearby Moevenpick tower & suits where i found a 2 bedrooms flat fully furnished for 15.500 QAR which it seems to be acceptable.

place is not ready yet, not before middle of November but am thinking to move there as soon as possible.

Wzdan sucks big time. I moved ot their newly build compound in WAKRA and their staff treated us as if we are living there for free. There is no concept of customer service. It'sone of the worst companies in Qatar. If you need a plumber or electrician for any small work, only GOD can help u. Also, despite being a new compound, after 2 months, every thing needs to be fixed.

first i experienced here that they mistook with my place and found myself in a place i didnt reserve, i told this to recipient after getting there with my suitcases and all i have, they apologized and told me to fix this problem after 3 hours cause place i supposed to get is not ready yet and when it was ready i found so many people inside working on the washing machine cause its broken and a nice man in blue showed me a list and asked me to check what i need more which is not there in my new place and so i checked all what i need and they said it will be ready by next day afternoon max.

evening i started out and when i got back my key didnt work, i had to check recipient and they reprogrammed my key and also didnt work, and so i had to get someone escorting me every time i need to get in my place to open it using a master key while my key still with them trying to fix it.

in the 4th day an engineer knocked at the door and asked me to try my key and THANK GOD its working.

ironing machine which i asked for it first day i got after 1 week, calling and asking for missing things in kitchen and so.

next experience was LAUNDRY that washing machine was broken the moment finished and before drying cloths and water filling the kitchen from everywhere.

after shouting and making troubles with recipient and house keeping a couple of nice people came smiling to fix it and when their work time finished they were so hurry to go home and said they will finish it next day.

next day was coming and nobody from Ezdan staff or engineers came that i had to do again what i used todo calling recipient and house keeping again and again which i hate to do and sometimes they were closing phone call in my face which made me feel s**t.

and then they came again after showing them how frustrated i am and that i need to talk to the manager immediately, when they cant solve it then manager has to solve it and when not then to find a better place.

so they came and fixed washing machine that they had to break ceramic in the ground and replace many things which were blocking water pipes and makes water comes up inside the kitchen and they went and said they will come later and close that holes in ground later which still not done since that time ( more than 5 days ago) and i think they forgot about it all. good news i got the iron machine and kitchen knife from more than 10 other items i asked for since more than 10 days ago.

i think important for them that they got the money for rent and that's all.

EZDAN

- when u call and ask for something mostly they ignore u or each one wish other colleague would respond to u and result is no respond.

- u have to make a big problem and shout that u get a soon respond (few days)

- noise coming from places u never know like to hear water flow like a river in ur roof!!!!!!!!!!!!

- hot water in shower but not in kitchen or opposite as i experienced!!!!!! i had hot water in shower but not in kitchen.

- best thing they can do is smiling in ur face.

ALL ABOVE WAS AN EXPERIENCE TO HAVE IN 11 DAYS IN EZDAN AND I THINK ITS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO EXPERIENCE.
