Hi Lillian, I hope you will come to Doha, and our kids could play together.
I'm not a teacher but I think kids could learn a lot from each other.
I'm born in France and I have lived there for 30 years, my parents are both spanish I'm fluent spanish. I hope I will learn English and Arabic...
Novita, one of my daughter is 7 like your son, I hope they will play together sometimes...
My daughter was learning Cantonese then Mandarin up to the age of 12.
At age 9 she gained the second highest mark in the school [which included adults & kids from Chinese decent].
I really regret letting her drop it when she went to high school.
Call me Maninibat!
Chinese is a language with so many dialects. The main Dialects are ;
1. Manderin
2. Hokkain
3. Haianese
4. Toh Chu
5. Cantonese
It will not do any harm if you learn a bit before declaring yourself a self made professor of everything under the SUN :)
Xonic ... fair enough ... probably you guys can swap by teaching her English and learning mandarin from her ?
Novita, I'm not picking on her, just correcting her.
--------
"One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" - George Galloway.
--------
Xonic, pls dont pick on Lilian ... I dare you that your mandarin wont be as good as her English.
Thanks :-)
PS : And i am chinese by race, indonesian by nationality. And Lilian is Taiwanese. And people born in Hongkong call Hongkonger.
Manderin yes, Chinese doesn't exist. Just like "Taiwanese" or "Honkongeses" don't exist.
It is an interesting language, is it easy to learn? or will it take me a few years to use it fluently?
--------
"One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" - George Galloway.

To Thexonic
Maybe you can check from the ditionary see what is Chinese. Maybe you heard about Maderine?? There are thousands languages on the world. The Chinese or Maderine is the offical language in China and Taiwan.
I hope it is clear for you.
I have post the news.
Lillian, I've never heard of a language called "chinese" can u be more specific please.
