Do expats "lend out" maids while on holiday?
Until we find a full-time, live-in maid I'm trying to work out other solutions to get a bit of a break.
My question is this. . .when expats go on holiday do they ever lend out their maid to someone else? I have zero interest in "poaching" someone's maid, but I would be interest in "temporarily hiring" someone's maid for the duration of their holiday. The person could live in or commute. I could either reimburse the expat for the maid's salary or pay the maid outright - whatever is reasonable and customary here.
Is this something that ever happens? If so, and if you are interested in doing this, please let me know. Again, I'm not going to poach What a death sentence that would be for my social scene - yikes!
Thanks,

P.S. I'm in the West Bay, if it matters for commuting purposes.
I haven't and I probably won't but if I did I would continue to pay her as usual while we were gone and let her keep the extra money she makes for herself.

Even if I don't know what i'll do this holidays with my maid, I don't think I'll "lend" to somebody I don't know.
The compound where I live is not too big but with two bad experiences with other nannys this one I just found (las thursday) seems to be perfect until now, so I prefer noboby spoils her and she becames as the regular-easy to found-Philipino nanny in Doha: fashion-material girl, not very respectful, demanding and not happy with anything than getting more salary and only caring about that (without counting with becaming cellphone and TV maniac).
I will only lend her to somebody with the same thinking as me about what it's correct or not for us to give to a maid and while waiting that, better leave her home alone with enought food to cook until I came back as my neighbour did with hers.
I'm not scary that she'll runaway as I'm of somebody spoiling her, how? for example: she only demanded no Fridays off because she doesn't know anybody here, she says she prefers to stay at home and go out with us to help with the kids, unbelievable huh?.
I have only seen ppl leaving them with trusted friends..but its interesting..When I went on leave I paid maid's full salary even when she was at my friends house..I can surely save this way..will keep you in mind for next time..
Will definitely make sure I feel *very* comfortable with the situation, assuming I'm lucky enough to find such a situation.

Some people do lend out their maids...but only to known people.... mostly to their friends or relatives.
Its a risky business, if the maid end up in some illegal act or if they run away... you will be in trouble.
Don’t go for it without any good reference.
