can anyone tell me what are the laws about car seats for children in Qatar? I'm sure I can buy them there but also wondering if I should bring what I have or buy there . thanks!
Thanks everyone! I have 3 children under the age of 4 ... so that's 4 car seats ... not sure if I can even bring them all on the plane ... but buying 3 would be expensive, hence the reason I asked! Thanks!!!
Marycatherine, that was a little bit exagerated don't you think? I've seen car seats that are good enough for less than 300 QARs, and the selection is quite decent. I bought at mamas and papas a pretty good one for almost 400 QARs that can be used from 0 to 10 years of age.
HeniHuDz: if you don't want to bring a car seat with you, then don't sweat... I am positive that you will find a good one here in Qatar.
300 QAR is for garbage in my home country. As for what the law is - it is up to the parents' to decide what level of protection to provide their children. Given the declining driving quality in Qatar. You should have the quality car seat and at least 6 air bags.
If you are concerned about the quality - I'd suggest buying one and bringing it with you (most airlines carry them free of charge). Depending on where you shop - quality can be hit or miss, and this being Qatar, your selection will be limited or maybe non-existant when you first arrive because the shops do run out of items (I spent 2 weeks looking for table salt at one point - none in the hypermarkets or supermarkets, go figure) However, I am happy to report the salt supply has never suffered a similar shortage since :-)

yeah its good it is always better to ask and obey the rules of law, and think the best safety for your children.
Car seats are not mandatory and as you can notice arabs do not use them.

there is no specific rules other than:
"children less than 12 yrs should not be seated in the front seat"
but if u put them in the back seat without safety seat nobody cares.
anyways if u have one bring it with you coz here the minimum cost is QR.300/-
