Dear all,

My husband has just been offered a much better position in Qatar and we are seriously considering leaving Dubai for Doha .

Our only concern is finding a school for our son who will be 4 next november.
I know all school have long wait list but maybe some schools will have a place for him ( UK,us or even french curri.)

Do you have any suggestions ?

Thank you very much in advance

It depends where you will be living - like Dubai the roads are death traps and the shorter the journey the less chance you will have an accident! Also the traffic, like Dubai is at its busiest at 7:30 and 1:30.

Come to Qatar and look around, if the school gets to meet you and your son, there is a much better chance 'a place will come up'

I arrived at Christmas and have been through the finding school process and try to help others as we all suffer the same.

My children go to Park House - I chose this school above one other school nearby because of the discipline, the nationalities of the teachers, the age of the teachers, their approach to learning and especially reading and just because I had a general good feel. My expectations were high and the school has very much exceeded them.

There were no places when we (husband and children) looked around but having taken my children to the school, introduced them to the department heads, I was lucky that places came available.... get the jist!

Because your son is four years old most "general" nurseries won't take him. There are several nurseries that are also registered kindergartens, however, that do take students of 4-5 years old. The ones that I know of, in alphabetical order, are Central English Speaking Kindergarten (CESK), Sunbeam Kindergarten, and The English Kindergarten (TEK). You can find all three via the Doha Mums website as mentioned by Soniya (thanks Soniya!).

Since your son will be enrolled in Nursery/Kindergarden schools, there are many options and plenty of availabilities in Doha.

Good Luck
