Ok, so I know this one has been done to death, but I cannot help it...

We always discuss the speeding twits that fly up behind you and flash their lights for you to move, like they are rushing to get $1 million being offered to them by the goverment....

But, what about the snails? The ones that drive along at 40km on a road with an 80 speed limit or drive in the middle lane at 40km.

It is so frustrating when you are stuck behind someone that is driving at a snail speed and you cannot move over for whatever the reason.

Don't people realise there is a timing to driving? It's difficult to explain, but there is timing to gearing up and gearing down, stopping and starting....

Please people, if you must drive 40km please stick to the very right-hand lane or speed up when you are on a one lane road, so others can get to their destination too...

Got stuck behind such a guy last night on D-Ring. I was hoping for a turn off - seems there aren't any. He was doing 75 in the right lane and the rest of the traffic was doing 100. There was just no way out and around him!

that's fine. But if they are slow because of texting or talking on their mobile, that's bad! Really bad!

Just hate it when two cars are driving next to each other and are having a conversation with the other... happened last night to me.... two landcruisers driving slowly so they could continue a conversation they started at the traffic signal.... You have to chuckle...;-)

Dont you just love when someone almost rear ends you, or takes half of the side of your car in the R/A and then gives you a blast like it is your fault :)

Dane Cook does a funny skit about this..... goes along the lines of a guy screaming at someone he just rear ended at a red light.

One of my hobbies since I came to Qatar is to drive around actively seeking out "lane drifters" on roundabouts so I can position myself inside them and watch them jump out of their skin when I honk at them.

Perhaps I have too much time on my hands.

I sympathize on this one... we could keep this thread going infinatly :)

Lane drifters, high speed lunatics, slow moving morons, people who cut you off, but the best is the land cruisers that drive in 2 lanes at the same time and choose one when it suits them. I really really hate this, they seem to be going left, then BAM, in your face and these guys are driving like 40km in the far left lane. Numpters.

"that people cannot keep to their lanes when going around a round-about.... Its happened to me before, but in the last three days, I have nearly been taken out by other drivers drifting to my side of the road - always while I am trying to take a left turn/u-turn around the R/A."

- R/A are usually too narrow and in case its a three-lane R/A, the outer lane is regularly used as parking even by traffic police cars...

"And what is with people that don't stop at yield signs? I frequent Hyatt Plaza, and at one of the roads leading toward the shops (within the centre) there are yield signs, giving way to people coming from the side lanes. But people just don't stop. I have to stop every time, even though its my right of way...."

-forget about right of way...they dont even look at their side mirrors when joining the main road...

Install an air horn on your vehicle - it's a great attention getter (sounds like one of those big dump trucks) and it helps to remind people that the lane they're drifting into is already occupied.

The horn on my vehicle is exceptionally good - much better than those girly man peep peeps that Landbruisers have :-). I use the horn to ensure my safety and not gratuitously like the bozos who start in as soon as a traffic signal turns green - goodness, how fast do you expect me to take the foot off the brake and on the gas pedal?

bloomin idiot in the middle lane near Midmac, car swerving, him doing about 40 whilst texting.

It is just as stupid and dangerous as somebody doing 140.

A lot of people are just plain rubbish at driving.

My thoughts are my own, but I doubt my Mum would agree with some of them.

well said Xena,.. im not driving, but it is equally frustrating to be tailing behind a slowpoke, and more annoying when you go past them and realize the reason they were going slow was that they were texting or even reading something while driving.....

i also believe its time up to speedup the infrastructure especially busy roads on war-time basis to reduce the congestion and traffic-jams and snails.

the funny part at times is the most roads are either busy nor has construction works going on and the freeways are with portable speedcameras.

i support the view of xena.

however good you are in driving at times you are forced to be a bad or rash driver due to absendminded drivers on doha roads. driving every day on the roads especially highways i would say some drivers are too fast with no patience and some are too slow way below speed limit and won't give the way to others who wants to go a bit fast.

sometimes you feel like its crazy driving, rushhour traffic is also on the rise.

Wishing you all the very Best

if you are aiming that at me, I do abide by traffic laws, but someone else isn't when they are driving, and obstructing traffic flow... exactly nomad, so frustrating, the mobile phone thing....
