‘Abuse’ teacher deported

WHY WOULD THEY DECLINE TO JAIL THIS TEACHER?????

A TEACHER who abused two little girls has been kicked out of the country after escaping a prison sentence.
A Doha court declined to jail the man as the crime he committed only caused moral damage to the youngsters, and it was his first offence.
The public prosecution lodged an immediate appeal against the “lenient” sentence.
The 43-year-old teacher, from Sri Lanka, was accused of touching the eight-year-old girls intimately. A court heard that he had threatened to kill the pair if they told their parents.
However, the teacher’s crimes were uncovered after one of the girls complained of pains. She then told her parents that she had been abused and she knew of another little girl going through the same ordeal. The parents added that the teacher had been interfering with their daughter for two years.
After the head of the school was contacted, the principal allegedly refused to investigate the accusation, believing it to be false.
However, a female teacher at the school had suspected her colleague was committing a crime and joined the parents of one of the victims in lodging a police complaint in January.
Following the teacher’s trial, the court accepted the testimonies of the victims and their parents and it found the teacher guilty.

Maybe the Qatari inmates at the jails don't like having to share accomodation with Asians, so instead they just send these people to another country to sort it out.

My heart went out to the two little girls. This kind of crime should never go unpunished. This two little girls' future looks bleak because of the trauma they have gone through.

Punish the culprit. Stone him to death.

Yes but God doesn't!

People will never be on our side but God will give us our due rights and He will never dissappoint us!

I believe it says in Corinthians that we should not go to a court or system that does not believe in God. What is sad is that Qatar's judges and courts claim to believe in HIM and still there is no justice!

Saw a program a few years back about dirty old men going on holiday there for young boys..

The authorities usually turn a blind eye to this for fear of losing tourism..

severely punished..

However, we have senile judges in the West also, and many a time stupid sentences have been passed for similar offences.

What is encouraging is that the Public Prosecuter has asked for the sentence to be reviewed..

Uummm crime rates, yes those things are so helpful and always reflect the truth don’t they! Anyhow as I said, that’s my opinion and we all entitled to that :)

By Gypsy• 8 Jul 2008 10:10

Actually if you look at the crime rates, murder, rape, etc are all declining, what's increasing is REPORTING of these crimes.

If the principal did in fact refuse to look into these matters then the parents of these little girls should sue him and the school. Actually that's probably being done, which is another reason his name didn't appear in the papers.

The world has gone crazy since we all got politically correct and over sensitive about human rights. See I do believe in human rights, but I also believe that when people stop acting like humans, they should lose those rights!! Rape, child abuse, killing, stabbing it’s on the increase so much. Well we all have our own opinion, one of out human rights I guess!

gypsy i agree with u, it could be mistake, but if it is proven them they should be named and shamed!

HappyDay, be realistic, how often does the Gulf Times mis-report things? Ummm EVERYDAY? What if the thing about the principal is a lie? His name is slandered in Qatar, he's fired and not only that but the school is ruined. All this because of a lie?

Human Rights are in place for a reason.

They should at least post the name of the school. The public deserves this information, especially after the principle refused to investigate the matter!

This is my favorite part: "A Doha court declined to jail the man as the crime he committed only caused moral damage to the youngsters"

But!

"However, the teacher’s crimes were uncovered after one of the girls complained of pains."

Way to go Qatar! Instead of actually bringing about some justice for these little girls, you're shipping this pervert off so he can do it again. And people here wonder why I maintain that the police here are blind to sexual abuse cases.

require alot of procedures before they can punish an accused...e.g.witnesses..medical reports..

but i would have rather ask for more than jail term for this kind of behaviour,

only imprisonment is not enough!!!!
